Community discussions around Open Publish distribution.

OpenPublish is a packaged distribution of Drupal, that has been tailored to the needs of today's online publishers. OpenPublish is ideal for the implementation of a variety of media outlet's sites including: online magazines, newspapers, journals, trade publications, broadcast, wire service and membership publications. Built and supported on standard Drupal core (currently Drupal 6x), OpenPublish features support everything from basic news coverage needs to Web 2.0 trends, social publishing, semantic tagging and topic hubs. Each component bundled in the distribution is well supported, documented and modularly designed according to Drupal's architecture.

Some useful links:

Important note: in order to fix consistency issues and critical bugs, in a timely manner, OpenPublish had to patch some third-party modules included in it. It's not recommended to independently update those. More information at: http://groups.drupal.org/node/60313

Primary links menu block suddenly got larger

Hi
Not sure how t happened but after I added some extra modules (location and calendar) the block that contains the primary links menu expanded from 45 to 123 (firebug).
I am using a submenu based on openpublish-theme. If I have empty files under the css in the submenu it stays the same size. If I go back to the openpublish theme then everything goes back to normal.
I can get round it by putting top.-50px; in the css for nav but would prefer to find the source of the problem and correct it there.

Any thoughts anyone, and please be gentle if the answer is really obvious.

Navigation Menu Setup

I want to include sub-navigation menus in the right sidebar of my site. It doesn't appear that OpenPublish is setup to easily do this with its CSS. Can someone help me out? Recommend a module or CSS style?

I would really like to have the sidebar menu to reflect the same styling as the "Most Commented" type boxes.

Integration of OpenPublish and Pressflow

I currently have a production site running Joomla that is simply not scaling or providing me with the features I need. I have been testing Openpublish and pressflow on 2 different installations for a few weeks now and wish to integrate the 2.

My question is does anyone have any experience with this. For example, do you download the openpublish distro and somehow replace core drupal with Pressflow. I am looking for some guidance here and hoping that someone has done this.

Thank you - chules

Views CSS

Can anyone point me toward a resource or explain why, for example, my "Homepage Articles" block does not appear with the same CSS as it does on the default front page when I put it elsewhere on my site?

Am I supposed to put a div class in one of the templates, and, if so, how do you tell which one and where it goes? Looking at the views theme:information has not helped me so far, nor has reading a couple of days' worth of documentation.

What does this mean?

I just found out that when I click "more", or menu items I get a blank page with an error statement.
Plus, in the status report window I get this:

Openpublish distribution: is out of sync. Please fix

What does that mean relative to "please fix"? How is that fixed?

How do I create a different header for different sections?

How do I create a different header for different sections?

For example, if I have the main News section and then Chamber of Commerce and then Multimedia, and I want each of those sections have a different header that adds distinction to that section.

Is this done by creating different page-front.tpl.php, page-news.tpl.php, page-chamber.tpl.php, etc...? Also, how do I make sure the subordinate pages keep the same header?

Thank you,
Joe

Front page center column has nothing in it?

I wonder if I a missing something from page-front.tpl.php? I read a lot here about a center column in the front page context, but I don't see any way to get blocks or anything else in there. Is this the content region in edit/context?

In short, I want to clone the front page to add a block views to the center, but don't know how best to do it. This raises the general question for me whether context or panels would be better for the front page anyway, but that is another discussion.

This is all I see in page-front.tpl.php about regions:

<

div id="sidebar-left">

OpenPublish Fatal Errors etc.

I'm new to Drupal and to Openpublish. I'm actually learning the system for my senior project in University. Sadly I am stuck. I've installed Openpublish and have been using their themes and the drupal that comes w/ the module. I fixed the memory errors but now I've gotten several new ones. I can no longer even login into the site to do any sort of fixes. If I try to log in I get this:

Home

Fatal error: Call to undefined function openpublish_addthis_widget() in /home/koopmand/public_html/drupal3/sites/all/themes/openpublish_theme/page/page.tpl.php on line 96

Create Two Content Items from One Content Type: Event & Location (Possible?)

My organization has two types of events: (1) Events Hosted by Us (2) State-Wide Events Hosted by Member Orgs.

Our event type node references a "Location" content type in order to show a google map on the event page -- built using this tutorial

I want to allow member organizations to submit events to a calendar without having to first create a location separately.

Problems using the file browser with OP 2.3 RC1

I'm trying to use the "file browser" option to add the main photo (and thumbnail) to an article, but for some reason it is showing an empty root>pictures directory.

When I navigate to the directory through the file system, a couple images should be there.

Also, when I use IMCE from the article body WYSIWYG, I see the same directory and I see the images.

Anyone know why I see it in the WYSIWYG, but not in the main/thumbnail image options?

Thank you,
Joe
