Community discussions around Open Publish distribution.

OpenPublish is a packaged distribution of Drupal, that has been tailored to the needs of today's online publishers. OpenPublish is ideal for the implementation of a variety of media outlet's sites including: online magazines, newspapers, journals, trade publications, broadcast, wire service and membership publications. Built and supported on standard Drupal core (currently Drupal 6x), OpenPublish features support everything from basic news coverage needs to Web 2.0 trends, social publishing, semantic tagging and topic hubs. Each component bundled in the distribution is well supported, documented and modularly designed according to Drupal's architecture.

Some useful links:

Important note: in order to fix consistency issues and critical bugs, in a timely manner, OpenPublish had to patch some third-party modules included in it. It's not recommended to independently update those. More information at: http://groups.drupal.org/node/60313

Help: Context and Paths

I need to display a block in the right sidebar when readers visit the "School" page. However, when I create a context with the path mysite.com/articles/Schools (or /Schools or school), the block doesn't appear. But if I use the block appears on the front page.

What is the best way to specify a block should appear by path?

Adding cck fields to existing OP content types...bad idea or okay?

Hi,

Using OP 2.1 and have, what I think, might be a silly question. I've added some cck fields to the Article content type and am wondering if I update to 2.2+, will this cause issues? Meaning:

A. Will I lose these fields?
B. Will it interfere with the update?

I am assuming the answer is no for both, but need to be sure.

Is this the way I should have handled this? Should I have exported the Article content type as a feature, imported it, then modified it? I couldn't find any documentation or FAQ dealing with this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Double question marks in Article content type about the author field?

Perhaps the answer is obvious, but after searching around several times over several days, I still can't figure out where the double question marks come from in my About the Author area on a page created by the Article content type. I'd love to get rid of them, but I don't see what might be creating them in node-article.tpl.php.

It would seem to me that it would be in this code:

<?php
print format_plural($plural, 'About the Author', 'About *the Authors');
?>

Anyone have another idea for me to try?

Here's an image link to what I am talking about:

Is OP 2.3 Out?

Is the final release of 2.3 out? I'm using the RC1 build. I've noticed a new bug in creating articles. If I add a main photo and then preview the article, the main photo will be gone, requiring that I upload the graphic again.

How do you create a link to feature?

This drupal site (http://www.archello.com/en/project/warsaw-bachelor-pad) has this "connect to this project" feature using a modal window, similar to how OP allows us to link Authors via nodereference on node edit form. Anyone know how these are done on the front end (both the modal window and the connecting link)?

Thanks,
Joe

Problem: Theme's JS Conflicts with FullCalendar

I intend to use the FullCalendar module to display my events. The module uses the FullCalendar JSQuery plugin from Adam Shaw. The module and plugin remove all of the complexity of Calendar, giving a great-looking and easy to setup calendaring system. The problem is the JS conflicts with the JS used in the theme, because I can view the calendar correctly in Views and with another theme.

Any hint what JS might be causing the problem? (Here is the thread discussing the problem.)

Problems with images

I do not seem to be able to see the images in articles or a new content type using Picasa embedded images

<

ol>

  • In unaltered articles content type, I upload an image but it does not appear in any of the view settings, i.e. the homepage, featues of page. When I checked it with firebug it showed that it should have been put in one of the imagecache folders but it was not put in any of them and it certainly has not been resized, it stays in the default/files folder where it was uploaded.

Errors after setting up Flicker API

Hi, Would be great if someone could help me! I have installed and setup Openpublish 2.3, which I must say all went really well. I never had any problems installing nor setting up my sub theme, menus, Taxonomy, colours etc and from the start the site all worked fine with my first four or five articles.

At this point I made a back up or my database as well as my public_html file. Before I proceed to restore the site I wondered if these warnings means anything to anyone?

Problems with setting up the home page with the context module

    Hello,

I had installed OpenPublish 2.2 - Build 285 and when trying to configure the main page with the context module to organize the blocks in each region, don´t let me change the blocks that is preset by default.
What I do is that if you attempt to modify or scrapped its current location, I deleted all settings.
I have reviewed the modules installed and I have the following assets:
    6.x-3.0 Context
    6.x-3.0 Context layouts
    6.x-3.0 UI Context

Do not know if this is a problem module or something I'm doing wrong.
    I need advice ....

    Thanks.
