Community discussions around Open Publish distribution.
OpenPublish is a packaged distribution of Drupal, that has been tailored to the needs of today's online publishers. OpenPublish is ideal for the implementation of a variety of media outlet's sites including: online magazines, newspapers, journals, trade publications, broadcast, wire service and membership publications. Built and supported on standard Drupal core (currently Drupal 6x), OpenPublish features support everything from basic news coverage needs to Web 2.0 trends, social publishing, semantic tagging and topic hubs. Each component bundled in the distribution is well supported, documented and modularly designed according to Drupal's architecture.

Important note: in order to fix consistency issues and critical bugs, in a timely manner, OpenPublish had to patch some third-party modules included in it. It's not recommended to independently update those. More information at: http://groups.drupal.org/node/60313
Change color in first-level and second-level menu items highlated in dark redish
Hello. I'm new to OpenPublish and I love the layout and theme and everything about it.
The only problem I have while trying make a subtheme is that I can't find where to change the dark-redish background colour to something else.
Check the image attachment to get the idea easily.
I'm referring to the "current section" highlight of the primary-links menu which has the background #770C2A when selected... and entire set of secondary-links which gets the same #770C2A background. I got the "770C2A" code from the Paint.NET sampler.

Read moreHow to Span Featured Story Across Both Columns?
I'm planning to use the featured front page region for a story carousel, using the Dynamic Display Block module. However, currently, the region covers only the left column - I'd like it to cover both the left and middle column, with the remainder of stories below. How do I span the featured front page region across both left and middle column?

Anyone here with experience creating a carousel using the Dynamic Display Block module for OP? I'm aiming for a story picker like those used by TNR or TheNation.
(By the way, I can't wait for the production version of OP 2.3 - love the backend additions.)
Read moreImporting Data from a Rails App
I created a small application for a local fortnightly using Ruby on Rails. I want to test out OpenPublish because of the better admin interface and out of the box features meant especially for online publishing. Can anyone suggest me ways to importy my model data from Rails into my OpenPublish install, whether any Drupal plugin or module exists to make my task easier.
Thanks.

I think I'm coming at this as a programmer, which is all wrong.
I've attached a picture of what I'm trying to do. It shows the desired state after the user has rolled over the "BLOGS" primary link.

It doesn't appear the CSS is obfuscating the layout. Clues?

Read moreAdvertisement module and context
Hi guys,
Problem we have: ad will not appear on the page defined in the ad channel under "Display advertisements only on the listed URLs".
Here is the setup we have:
openpublish-2.2-build285
Ad 6.x-2.2
Context 6.x-3.0-beta5
Page: topic-hub/mens-health
Ad group: "Right sidebar top 300x250"
Ad channels: "Everywhere" and "MensHealth" with "topic-hub/mens-health" under "Display advertisements only on the listed URLs".
Context mens-health with "topic-hub/mens-health" under path and with added "ad group: Right sidebar top 300x250"
OP sub-theming - Flash of Unstyled Content (FOUC)
I am creating a OpenPublish 2.2 sub-theme and have a views carousel on the front page for featured articles.
When I set the default theme to be the OpenPublish Theme the carousel renders fine. But when I use my sub-theme I get a brief flash of what I would see if JavaScript were turned off in my browser before I see the items rendered in the carousel. The page is rendered correctly in the end.
This seems to be a FOUC (Flash Of Unstyled Content) created by making an OP sub-theme, and it does not seem to be due to the use of a Views carousel, per se.

Read moreTeaser-Issue
Teaser-Issues have been discussed quite often in this forum ([http://groups.drupal.org/node/95109]). But I still don’t know how to activate the teaser-field for articles in OP 2.3. In the standard OP configuration the teaser is only set for the frontpage. But I would like to display the teaser in the article too.
For this purpose I think I will have to change the following lines in the node-article.tpl.php:
<?php
print $body;
?>Having the teaser-text in the articles would be great, especially for printing.
Read moredefault template for topic hub
We need to create ~30 topic hubs. Can we somehow make a default template in terms of Panel layout and Panel content and then
have it applied to any new created topic hub, or is any other way to duplicate existing hub?
Also it looks like "Disregarded Vocabularies:" under Topic Hubs settings doesn't work - will not save choices.
- Dear Irakli and team,
It's not crucial for us anymore after ~15 hubs already created, but still good feature for topic hubs to have - "Clone", like in views.
Also good if "Disregarded Vocabularies:" will work next time we need it :)
Twitter Posting Problems
How are people handling posting to Twitter? It seems after the requirement for Oauth, the ability to post to Twitter has become a royal mess. At each step for authorization (adding my Twitter account in user or setting up the Twitter action) I get a failure of authentication. I've followed several tutorials, but they all fail at the oauth authorization. Any help??
Read moreNeed to add custom block to the topic hub page
Hi guys,
We need to add custom block to the topic hub page (to each it's own) and for some reason it's not easy at all:
- block visibility restriction is not working when block is added sitewide under context - it shows up on every page;
- when added under topic hub panel content it will not show up.
Any help, please. What would be the right way of doing it?
Thanks a lot
Read moreFeed Authors and Views
I have several feeds which create articles. I have a view which looks at the article author and determines whether to display. For instance, if the author is "Pets", it is not displayed. This allows me to review incoming feeds for the articles I want to publish. However, when the feed is created the author is assigned to me, causing every article in every feed to display immediately.
The only way I've found to stop this is to create an actual user, then set the feed's author to that user. I can create a virtual author. How can I avoid creating dozens of actual users? Thanks.
Read moreFeed Authors Not Displayed in Content Management
I have several feeds which have authors. The feed item appears correctly as Articles, displaying the Author. However, when searching in Content Management, the items still show myself as the author. When I attempt to use the feed author name (although it is an Author node type), the node won't accept the feed author name, only my own. Is there a way for the node edit (under "authoring information") to accept the feed author name, rather than my own?

Hi,
I installed the latest version (OpenPublish-2.3RC1-Build375) on a server, disabled calais, and started workin in the instal to give it a try. I have a problem because the uploaded node images are not showing (the site seems to be looking for them on a folder that does not exist) and the feeds are also lost, i get the list of feeds but when i click on any of them, the file is not found. Is there extra configuration that has to be done in order for them to work?
We're working in making a multisite starting with openpublish to create instances.
