OpenScholar

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.
This group should probably have more organizers. See documentation on this recommendation.

OpenScholar represents a paradigm shift in how the personal academic and research web sites are created and maintained. Built on the open-source framework Drupal, OpenScholar makes it possible to create academic web sites in a matter of seconds. Each web site comes with a suite of powerful tools from which users can facilitate the creation, distribution, and preservation of knowledge faster and more efficiently than ever before.
OpenScholar allows users to create genuine, feature-rich web sites on the fly in seconds and is designed to host an unlimited number of web sites in a single installation.

user site URL

I've installed to say, http://myschool.edu/scholar

If a new user -- johndoe -- starts to do some editing to their site (via the normal control panel tools .../cp/build/layout) and clicks Save, he is returned to
http://myschool.edu/johndoe
instead of
http://myschool.edu/scholar/johndoe

I looked a little at Persistent URL settings but wasn't successful in fixing it there.
Anyone know what is causing this and how to correct it? Note, the problem causes other follow-on URL trouble.

Thanks,
-Ben

remove user?

Newbie into OpenScholar admin... I add a username in via /site/register
As site administrator i decide to remove that user, which I do via /admin/user/user/list
and then also remove his path via /admin/build/path/list

But the system still shows that user as a Featured user (!) and denies him when he tries to recreate with the message that his domain name is already taken.

Where/how do i really delete a user?

TIA,
-Ben

Multiple sites owned by one email address?

Apologies if this is an excessively newb-ish question, but: Is it possible to create multiple sites with the same owner? I just tried to create a second site on a test installation of OS, and the system wouldn't let me because my email address is already associated with a site.

Thanks in advance!

Craig

Incorrect URL for new user site

Hello,

Yesterday I downloaded the latest version of the openscholar distribution, installed it successfully, and encountered and (temporarily) solved the issue of the myriad error messages sent out.

I have now encountered a problem which made me give up last time I attempted to instal openscholar. maybe someone can help.

openscholar is installed in a subdirectory of the web root (http://mysite.com/openscholar).

When a user creates their own website, everything seems to work ok and they create a site at http://mysite.com/openscholar/user1.

Doesn't create user site

Hi,

I just got OS installed on Dreamhost. I got the welcome page (with the "Get your site now!" link) more or less successfully (a few warning messages), and I created a new site called "projects."

But now there are a couple of problems. First, when I go to the root web site (mydomain/openscholar/), I don't seem to get the administrator options -- just a page with the intro video and a button saying "Go to my site." Second, when I click that button (the link is mydomain/openscholar/content/projects), I get redirected to mydomain/projects, which throws a "404 Not Found" error.

warning: Missing argument 2 for views_content_cache_key

I recently upgraded my OpenScholar to RC1, but I must have made some mistakes, because now I am getting a warning on every page of my site. I'm rather new to Drupal and OpenScholar. A friend helped set me up on it, but now we are both over our heads.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! I'm having another issue (not sure if they are related) that I will describe in another post.

Problems installing OpenScholar 2.0 RC1

I've been trying to install the current version of OS on a Windows 7 PC using XAMMP (so I can test it before recommending it to my institution). But I've been having a LOT of trouble getting it to install -- mostly fatal errors due to missing files or settings.

Disable creation of users by scholars

i want to disable because we want only the scholars themselves to be able to update their site thereby not giving access to some student/colleague to update his site on his behalf and also because if they create a new user, all available roles (including administrator) are assigned to the newly created user. I also tried removing user create permission from the ucreate module to the scholar admins but still they are able to create users.

Debugging issue with OG data not being set correctly (disappearing content)

We're implementing OS and after successfully setting up and theming 1 profile, we started creating more and pre-populating them with publication data.

After more profiles were created, all new content is no longer associated with the correct scholar site or organic group. True for bios, publications, whatever. They all show up in the content list, but not in the site. On inspecting the data, the nodes aren't getting placed in the og_ancestry table. If this mysql entry is inserted by hand the content will show up fine.

User roles in OpenScholar

Can anyone explain the different user roles in the Scholar installation of OpenScholar?

Who is an administrator? UID 1? or anyone who wishes to do whatever UID 1 can do? Can I use just UID 1 to administer the OS installation or should i create a new user and assign him "administrator" (like we use sudo in linux instead of root account)?

Who is a manager? How is he different from scholar admin?

And who is a scholar user?

Replace contact form link with mailto:

And another OpenScholar newb question: how can I replace the link in the site header to /contact_owner with a direct mailto: link? I haven't been able to figure where to switch this.

Thanks,
Harald.
