This group is for planning and supporting Drupal code sprints. It'll also be the place to evaluate and make recommendations on (limited!) Drupal Association code sprint funding, see these guidelines.
If you're looking for a hand getting a sprint organized, post here and we'll try to get you what you need.
If you're planning a sprint, please post here to let people know what you're planning.
If you've hit up other sources and still need a bit of funding to make your sprint happen, you can apply here for Drupal Association help. To apply: Create a post here called "Sprint funding request for [description of sprint]" e.g. "Sprint funding request ." Give details about your sprint. See the guidelines for a list of what details will be needed. If you've already posted a sprint announcement, you can link to it and give just the extra details that are needed.
If you're willing and available to be a mentor for code sprint organizers and also review and decide on Drupal Association funding for code sprints, please sign up for this group and then contact the group manager to be added as an admin of this group. Sprint group admins will be responsible for making finding recommendations.
For more information on Drupal sprints, see the handbook section on sprints on drupal.org.

Sprints do not show up very far in the future on lists that use the g.d.o event listings for sprints. Here is an issue to hopefully list more sprints. http://drupal.org/node/1888892

So far we think there are nine people attending, including most (if not all) of the key Views developers and some interested others. If you want to join in, contact us. There is a limit to how many people we can organise, but this sprint is happening and we'd like to make the most of it, so if you can help and want to step forward then do let us know.

Thanks to the leadership of Allie Micka and R.J. Steinert, the Snowball initiative to provide tools for coordinating and funding Drupal initiatives is coming to the Boston area this long weekend for its first code sprint.
We will focus on building a working alpha so we have something real to share for feedback, to refine, and to build process, message, and governance around.
We'll be working on Friday November 11th, Saturday the 12th, and Sunday the 13th starting at 10am on Friday and no later than that on the weekend days in Somerville, Massachusetts.
If you can dive into helping build this, contact rjstatic or contact mlncn for directions to the venue.

Media Sprint in NYC a Success!
The Media Sprint in late October was amazing! Jody and Maarten hunkered in one corner and bashed out the UI, while Peter and Darrel worked out some of the FileField integration. Meanwhile Arthur whipped out a File Metadata implementation, and I began teasing the existing work out of Drupal 6 and into Drupal 7.
Also in the fray were Jonathan, Forest, Rob, Oleg, and Jen, who participated in varying degrees. Jen also took the opportunity to begin a cool new core theme for Drupal 7, and with Darrel's help took some time to give us a pre-fab image field with core articles! W00T!
The sprint was an amazing success. The module actually works now, as evidenced by Arthur's demonstration screencast. After installing Media, you can actually browse your file system in the administrative screen, with lovely thumbnails representing the file objects. The same action is also available when uploading a new file.
In the past couple of weeks, we've also made strides towards implementing remote streams, with the Media: YouTube module almost ready for unveiling.

As a supplement to the Media group, I launched Drupal Media today to help with the ongoing Media sprint efforts. On its front page, you'll see a map to the next sprint (which is at Mansueto - 7 World Trade Ctr, New York, NY this Friday-Saturday, October 23-24, from 9-5). Tabs are also available for discussions (add your own), videos, and a feed to the Media module issue queue. Please give me any feedback or desired functionality that would be useful for the site. (Including long-term plans for the useful domain, contributed by the good folks at Development Seed.)
Don't forget that you have to pre-register if you plan to come to the sprint, with your full name. Hope to see you there, or at #drupal-media in IRC!

How does your sprint address a recognized need in Drupal development?
Drupalcon 2010
Excellent timing for the creation if this group! I am starting to get organized for the code sprint at Drupalcon 2010 right now. I could use advice on running code sprint from others who have done it before -- what's required, what works, what doesn't, etc.
Read moreDRAFT Drupal Association code sprint sponsorship guidelines
As part of its role of supporting the Drupal project, the Drupal Association (DA) offers occasional help in planning and organizing and funding Drupal code sprints.
Code sprints are an important way that advances are made in Drupal development, both in core and in contributions. Sprints are generally self-organized and self-funded: individuals interested in participating communicate with each other, choose a time and place, and get sponsorship as needed for travel expenses, a venue, etc. from their employers, clients, and other sources.
