This group is for planning and supporting Drupal code sprints. It'll also be the place to evaluate and make recommendations on (limited!) Drupal Association code sprint funding, see these guidelines.
If you're looking for a hand getting a sprint organized, post here and we'll try to get you what you need.
If you're planning a sprint, please post here to let people know what you're planning.
If you've hit up other sources and still need a bit of funding to make your sprint happen, you can apply here for Drupal Association help. To apply: Create a post here called "Sprint funding request for [description of sprint]" e.g. "Sprint funding request ." Give details about your sprint. See the guidelines for a list of what details will be needed. If you've already posted a sprint announcement, you can link to it and give just the extra details that are needed.
If you're willing and available to be a mentor for code sprint organizers and also review and decide on Drupal Association funding for code sprints, please sign up for this group and then contact the group manager to be added as an admin of this group. Sprint group admins will be responsible for making finding recommendations.
For more information on Drupal sprints, see the handbook section on sprints on drupal.org.
Drupal Sprint Weekend 2014 at Droplabs in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, January 25, 2014
We're scheduling an extra special Drupal event this Saturday, January 25, 2014, and you're invited!
This is a mega event with four separate activities, including code sprints and expert Drupal mentoring. Join us for any or all of the following, including the Drupal Sprint Weekend: Los Angeles; having a GLADCamp.org website sprint; open lab hours for attendees of the module development boot camp; and a FREE video learning and mentoring workshop using Build a Module.com videos.
Agenda
For any changes to our agenda for the event, stay tuned to this meetup announcement or click the "Sign up" button at https://groups.drupal.org/node/399498#signup (or both!) to be notified when the agenda has been updated.
Drupal Sprint Weekend
The annual Global Drupal Sprint Weekend is upon us and anyone interested in learning more about Drupal core and how the Drupal software project is managed and developed will be guided and mentored in the Drupal Way.
We'll help you select tickets in the core issue queue at https://drupal.org/project/issues/drupal to work on so that together as a group we can move Drupal 8 closer to a release date. See https://groups.drupal.org/node/332998 for more details.
GLADCamp.org Code Sprint
Thanks to an amazing team and help from our design and development partners, the GLADCamp.org website is now up! Before we open user registrations and session submissions, the website needs help from volunteers in our community.
We'll be updating the GLADCamp.org website, including descriptions of the non-profit summit and venue and hotel information, and cataloging any remaining bugs in the issue queue at https://drupal.org/project/issues/gladcamp
Open Lab Hours for the Module Development Boot Camp
This weekend is the last best chance for attendees of the Module Development Boot Camp to participate in open lab hours at Droplabs. The boot camp instructors will be on hand to help boot camp attendees finish their class projects and get them published to Drupal.org.
FREE video learning and mentoring with Build a Module.com videos
That's right, we're also doing a mentored Drupal training! If you're interested in learning more about Drupal, site building, theming, module development, change management, or anything else, come with your laptop or tablet and a pair of headphones. The staff at Droplabs will set you up with a day pass to Build a Module.com and help create a video playlist for you to gently climb the Drupal learning curve at your own pace.

Drupal Developer Days 2014 is coming up quick in Szeged, Hungary from March 24th (Mon) to the 30th (Sun) 2014. Szeged, Hungary may sound like it is the middle of nowhere but what do you need to get together with a bunch of Drupal developer friends and learn about and advance the platform together? As those who have been to DrupalCon Europe 2008 in the same city know, Szeged is the ideal place for just that. Check out our interviews about those experiences.
Here are some quick facts about Drupal Dev Days 2014:
- A whole week of sprints with two core committers (Alex Pott and Nathaniel Catchpole) as well as the testbot system maintainer (Jeremy Thorson) on location! Could we help more to make progress? Oh, most top European Drupal developers are already signed up to come as well!
- Three days of sessions and workshops (50 topics providing 56 hours of content). Get lots of readily applicable know-how including website monitoring, e-commerce, practical scrum, Vagrant, product development in real life, Heisencache, IDE tricks and so on. Look into how Drupal is made, see the life of a core maintainer, get gamification tips or discuss a new type of money: Druplicoins!
- Want to work on upgrading your modules to Drupal 8 but don't know how? No problem! Additionally to learning about all the new Drupal 8 subsystems, there is a bring-your-own-module workshop as well, where mentors will help you upgrade your module!
- Want to get into Drupal development? Attend the community tools workshop and learn all the tools we use to communicate and work on solutions and learn and enjoy how the Drupal mentoring program works.
A truly fantastic opportunity isn't it? Last but not least its also very cheap. The ticket is only 30 Euros for the whole week! If you want to get to know Drupal 8 or even help make it happen, this is the place to be in March. Note that some cheap hotel deals expire this week. Don't miss out!

Hello Andriy!
That's wonderful that you'll be having another sprint :)
We've been working off our TODO list for sprints lately:
http://groups.drupal.org/node/278968
This just links to various searches of the core queue on d.o, but it's
much easier to manage than tags for each sprint.
Will this work for you?

The grant covered $72 for 6 months of meetup.com

Reservations for space to meet at the local library was $20/month. We met there 5 times.

Drupal Sprint Weekend at Droplabs in Downtown Los Angeles on March 9 & 10, 2013
Droplabs is happy to host Drupal Sprint Weekend: Los Angeles on Saturday and Sunday, March 9 & 10, 2013. On Saturday, coffee and pastries are being sponsored by Exaltation of Larks and lunch will be provided by Princess Cruises.
This event is taking place simultaneously across the globe. See http://groups.drupal.org/node/277768 for a list of other Drupal Sprint Weekend themes and locations around the world.
Those interested in attending this meetup remotely are welcome to join us via a Google+ Hangout.
What's a "code sprint"?
Code sprints are organized events where attendees meet online or in person (and sometimes both) and work toward a shared goal.
Local area organizers have produced several code sprints in recent history, including sprints focused on building the SCALE conference website, resolving issues in the Drupal 7 issue queue and updating the Conference Organizing Distribution (COD) project to Drupal 7.
See https://drupal.org/node/247982 for more information.
What's this code sprint about?
Good question! There will be 4 separate themes at this event:
- The Droplabs Operations Management Group (OMG) is hosting a code sprint for advancing Otto, a Drupal-based coworking space management system, towards its first public release;
- Jen Lampton, who ran the Twig code sprint at Drupal Design Camp LA (the last code sprint before Twig was committed to Drupal core!), has asked Droplabs to be a remote location for Twig Sprint. Droplabs is providing a venue and resources for anyone who's interested in participating;
- Members of the Greater Los Angeles Area Drupal Camp (GLADCamp) organizing team will be working on the GLADCamp website and adding content about the conference, including sponsorship levels, hotel information, and local attractions;
- Droplabs will also provide a FREE mentored Drupal training using Build a Module videos. Just bring your laptop and a pair of headphones. A Droplabs staff member will set up you with a day pass.
We're following up on Sunday with a virtual sprint. Below is the IRC channel and Google+ Hangout information:
