Revolutionary Drupal: Coding and Supporting Social Change - DrupalCon BoF
At Drupalcon? Join us Thursday 12-1PM in the Erie meeting room for Revolutionary Drupal: Coding and Supporting Social Change
Technology doesn't drive social change, but it is one tool used -- from the streets of revolutionary Cairo to community organizers in Detroit. Can we help support these social change movements with Drupal? Are there ways we can code and structure Drupal projects to make them more useful to activists? Does Drupal have a role in protests and strategic direct action?
This session will be an open discussion for those working around social change, case studies of using Drupal, and brainstorming for ways we could collaborate or support Drupal projects that support social change.

Hear of a 'good deal' on flights from Seattle to DrupalCon 2011? Let us know!
There have been a number of discussions regarding flights to Chicago for DrupalCon 2011. I thought I'd start a thread where people could post found 'deals' so that those of us, who have yet to make arrangements, might also be able to save a buck.

This year at the DrupalCon Copenhagen we had a lot of different performance related Sessions. I watched mostly all of them and in the end I need to tell, that they are no big differences between them.
Now the Session Proposal for DrupalCon Chicago 2011 is open and I thought, why the different speakers can't organize before and make only two or three performance sessions, but them really great!
I'm thinking about a first sessions for beginners in which High Performance for Drupal is first explained, with some easy stuff.

Considering notes from the BOF and many comments from Drupalcon Paris, why I thought Lisbon could be an interesting choice:
- International Airport.
- Number of conference venues (including University of Lisbon1).
- Small city, easily possible to walk everywhere.
- Beautiful architecture and history, not a tourist trap however.
- Extremely friendly people.
- Inexpensive accommodation & living.
- Bairo Alto: 4 blocks of just bars, easy social meetup point!
- Beaches for those that want.
Notes from the Drupalcon Europe BOF
Hi
Sorry for arriving late. I've made a Google Doc of the notes from the BOF.
Quick summary:
- Possible cities for 2010 is Berlin, Cologne, Prague, Copenhagen, Maastricht and London (in no particular order). The community (probably meaning people engaged in this group) should have a pick ready by October 15th, but before that Drupal Association will look for venues in each of the listed cities.
- Get ready to suggest cities for 2011 as well, since it should be decided no later than April 2010 (and preferrably sooner).
- Anyone wanting to be engaged in arranging Drupalcons should be more focused on promoting him/herself for a particular task than promoting the city he/she lives in.
