I'm still climbing up the ladder of estimation proficiency so I'd really learn from you guys! Here are some of my experiences and thoughts - what do you think?

“So how much will this project cost and how long will it take?”
The million dollar question every freelancer and agency faces. Nothing moves before the client gets a satisfactory answer to this question, and signs it off.

I am just wondering if the quiz module will be ported to drupal 8 when finally released hopefully by August, and what should be our expectations (functionalities and performance)?

Date Views development guide?
hey there,
I'm studying Views in order to build a module that will use date parts as contextual filters.
with that in mind, I need to know how can I pull a list of date fields (both core and custom date fields) that I can manipulate in simple ways (at first YYYY, MM, DD, but later on maybe weeks within a month or suggestions from users).
is there any tutorial on that? paid solutions (video courses, books etc.) also welcome.
thanks in advance,
Luciano
Maintain User data on Live site while developing
I'm new to development and have come to a stopping point. When developing a new site and using GIT to maintain the revision control, I also put the site database into version control. When working on a site that is ready for beta testing, there will be new users and user data coming into the live database between development changes that are not in the changed development DB.
How do you get the development (DB) changes into the live site without losing all the new user data that may have been created on the live DB?

Hey Folks,
It's in the works! But it's not ready in October.
We're working fulltime to pay the bills, and it's been difficult to find time to put into Quickstart.
Travis and Roma have been hugely helpful in moving the project forward. We wouldn't be anywhere close to done if it wasn't for their help.
The switch to Puppet, while critical to success, has been a big learning curve for me, and we haven't found anyone with the time to help.

Hello, I am thinking of creating a Drupal Community, for some of the non-profits in my area to better communicate. I am new to Drupal, and though this would be an interesting/challenging project to get started learning about it. I have a friend who has been working with Drupal for a while, but has never built a community. A coworker suggested me this book to get started http://www.duoconsulting.com/capturing-community. Has anyone read this? Does anyone have other suggestions of where to start? Should I even be considering this task?

Recently I've been working more with Drupal, and noticed Quickstart 1.0's post-installation fizzle: "470 days since your last update"!
I've been focused on billable time recently, but with Ubuntu 11.04 support ending 12.10, it's time to update my tools :-)
What's next for QS 3.0?
What I really wanted from QS 1.0, more than anything, was a debugger. A profiler was just icing on the cake.
Now, I really want a sensible dev/test/prod server ecosystem.
