need more talk - drupaldelphia IRC

Hey, just in case you weren't aware, there's an IRC (group IM) channel specifically for Drupaldephia folks . . .

you can find it through Freenode.net with the moniker #drupaldelphia:
irc://irc.freenode.net/drupaldelphia

you can access it with any IRC client. It's easy if you have Firefox by using Chatzilla
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16/

There isn't one for Chrome but you can use a web-based client like Mibbit
http://www.mibbit.com/

I'm there as BeWhy . . .usually you select the same name that you use for drupal.org

Looking for Drupal training in London/SE England especially for building a newspaper site and/or conditional presentation of content depending on which page your on

I'm seriously considering investing in myself by buying some training, taking a few days off my job and going on a course for such things. I've done a bit of google searching but I thought I'd ask here for recommendations, durations, price guides/ranges.

University business students learning Drupal

I run an intensive IT program for university business students (in accounting, marketing. management, etc.). The program has special IT courses, plus project work for companies.

I plan to move the program towards Drupal (currently pure MS tech). I'm looking for suggestions. There's a longer post at http://drupal.org/node/812754.

PHP and/or JavaScript training in DC area

Any suggestions for a provider of in-a-classroom PHP and/or JavaScript trainings? So far I've looked at Global Knowledge, Westlake, and HOTT.

Related question -- Global Knowledge has a 2-day Intro to PHP course that seems decent (especially for the price), but only "virtual classroom" options. That is, UNLESS I can say that more than just me would be attending.

Here's the course info:

Some possible characteristics of a successful/useful open curriculum

I'm reposting this here from http://drupalkata.com/curriculum/node/466 at Gus Austin's request.

Inspired by the IRC discussion on 3 May, here are some notes on criteria by which we could judge the success of a curriculum design project. Sorry, it's all very sketchy and provisional but perhaps can serve as some sort of contribution to the discussion.

A useful/good curriculum will have the following properties (sort of a unit test for the curriculum):

Who would come to training workshops not boring with recreation and hotel included

Inspired by another post by an obvious academic: how many of you would attend a weekend training session that included accommodations, recreation (surf camp with training and equipment) at reasonable cost? Would $750 be reasonable for three days, including luxury room on weekend at beach and one free drink per day, mixers...
