Hi, I have just signed up to this group. I am based in Davis. I am going to be managing a project of redeveloping a website within Drupal (www.tni.org). Whilst we have contracted a web collective to develop it, I am keen to learn the technical basics of Drupal myself, probably by setting up a personal website. Are there any courses people can recommend where I could learn? I found one that looked good in Santa Barbara (www.drupaltrainer.com) but it's a bit of a trek. Any pointers appreciated. What educational materials do you use for training writers, editors, photographers, etc. on using a new Drupal newspaper site? I was thinking about Lullabot's "intro to drupal" video, but thought it might cover too much, since sometimes making people aware of other stuff that's available in the site can end up 10x worse than just showing them one little part.

What have you all done in the past?

I recently signed a client who uses drupal and need to get up to speed quickly. Anyone in the DFW metroplex who has a few hours (I really hope I can get what I need in 2-3 hours) in the coming days (last week in Jan 2009)? Will pay!!!! Please email me at jennlt1@aol.com.

This January the Growing Venture Solutions team is offering a series of classes designed to take you (or your colleagues...) from newbie to Drupal Rockstar.

The classes start with background information on Drupal and the basics of editing content and administering a site. From there we cover adding more power with various contributed modules. The final class covers theming, module development, security, and performance.

Hey everybody. I know I got involved awhile back and haven't showed up to any meetings yet, but I've got some commitment from our whole team at ODIN Development now to sponsor a meeting place and regular meetings down in Utah County. We've actually revisited our business plan and have decided to make Drupal a huge part of it. In doing so we want to get a lot more involved in the local Drupal community and global one. Everyone and anyone who can make it is invited.

Several months have passed since the Dojo lost it's way a bit when some noble ninjas attempted to create a great deal of good for the Drupal project. In a group of 1500+ members, there is no way to achieve any sort of consensus to why it stalled, how it could succeed, or what the purpose was in the first place. There are, however, a lot of indicators that the concept/ideal of an open learning/mentoring group is solid and is worth reviving.
