Who would come to training workshops not boring with recreation and hotel included

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Inspired by another post by an obvious academic: how many of you would attend a weekend training session that included accommodations, recreation (surf camp with training and equipment) at reasonable cost? Would $750 be reasonable for three days, including luxury room on weekend at beach and one free drink per day, mixers...

I would attend if I had that

I would attend if I had that kind of money. Definitely sounds worth the money. I think you should offer the standard room to for those that need to save some $ or bring along family.

The rooms are nice rooms

For $99 each per night, normally $246
You could, however, drive ,seek less expensive accommodations in town within walking distance, or set something like this up at another location of you have one.

We do not get anything from the Hotel other than a good deal, and we do not handle their money. Oh yea, they also said one free drink per day.

Maybe I can show you how to use your skills and earn more to support that family.

First you said $750, now $99/night. I'm confused.

And yes, one of the reasons I'm learning drupal is to earn more money.

You need to read teh english

The hotel is $99 per night, that is cost. I am not an Evangelist, I am not going to do it al all if I cannot cover my costs and my time.

Depends on the audience

highermath's picture

The more expensive it is, the more focused it needs to be, both in terms of audience and content. If you are targeting professionals that work for companies with reasonably deep pockets, they will probably want to do it during the week. If you go for experienced hackers who want to move into Drupal, it should probably be longer.

Good luck

Israel, people that have the

shaiss's picture

Israel, people that have the money will pay. In particular me, I don't have much money. But should you put together a curricular that sounds worth my hard earned money I would pay. That $ amount and value is different for every person. Even between two equally skilled devs making the same $ at the same company. That's just life.

If your offering to put something together than go ahead, but be prepared for answers like "I can't afford that" or I want this. Only you know what is covers your cost and is worth your time.

Some people might expect free training and a free hotel, but it doesn't mean you have to accommodate them. So in short, post a rough outline of your curriculum and the cost that you feel comfortable would cover it. Worry about value adding later, after the important parts been settled. We can arrange for food, drinks, and surfing on our own, but we can't train ourselves.

Hopefully that makes sense...

Another thought, you could stagger the training. Day1 basics, Day2 intermediate, and day 3 advanced. And give people the option to attend 1,2, or all 3 days.
