I posted a wiki on Drupal Dojos, Hack Nights, and Cafés in your community after spending some time with Lynn Bender who started a Drupal Dojo in the Austin community. The general idea is to have a weekly opportunity to get together with other folks in the local Drupal community to work on projects and share solutions to problems.

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you in SF!

As a newbie to Drupal, you know what would help me? Purpose.

What I mean is that learning Drupal is cool, but learning it so that I can actually do something with it is even cooler. What I want to know is could someone come up with a few different types of sites and specifications so us new people can build those?

For instance, instead of just installing everything and figuring out what works, someone says:
"hey, build a social site with these features"
or
"build a site for a small school that needs these features"
or
you get the drift.

Just wanted to make sure everyone knew about the OpenPublish training session that will take place at Drupalcon SF in April.
(OpenPublish is a packaged distribution of Drupal that has been tailored to the needs of online publishers.)

We'll start with an Introduction to OpenPublish and Thomson Reuters' OpenCalais and move on to an installation of OpenPublish. The class will cover the following items as well, and include plenty of time for questions and instructions.

I just joined this group, looking for training opportunities in the Pacific Northwest. We moved our site (www.co.polk.or.us) over to Drupal this past summer, so I am pretty much still a newbie. Now that the basic framework is in place, I want to work on improving the theming (not at all happy with what we're currently using), setting up a better search tool, etc.

Can you recommend any training options? We are near Salem, Oregon.
