Does anyone care to track Handbook stats?
Neil (drumm) just responded on an old issue I'd filed, http://drupal.org/node/780982 - I've got enough occupying my brain that I don't think I'm the right person to be tracking stats, but I thought I'd post here in case anyone would be interested in trying to get access to Google Analytics, and occasionally checking in on stats to see if there's any useful info about oft-used handbook pages and such.
If you are interested, drop a note here and we'll see if we can get access to the analytics account.

Just had a bit of a lightbulb moment (and maybe this idea has come up before?) about how to eventually kill comments on handbook pages. Someone asked how we could make sure conversations about a particular page were still visible if they were happening in the issue queue instead of as comments.
I thought, and this is what seemed like a good idea:
- add a field on the issue node-add form for a referenced d.o NID (to reference the handbook page the issue is about)
- build a view block for the handbook pages that displays any issues related to the page
Ta-da?

So I've been starting down the path of building a stronger community at Penn State that's interested in Drupal. I know of about 60+ interested parties who at least want some more information about how Drupal could be used at my university. I'm also mentoring 4 or so students / staff in Drupal and as part of that effort, began to write an online book in Drupal to go over the basics or at least provide links out to other locations so they could get up to speed quickly. This began my thinking of a drupal@psu resource until I began to think a bit more about the resource.

I added a Captcha handbook page. Feel free to edit it if I missed anything or got something wrong.
Read morei18n Handbook improvements
Jose Reyero just completed updating the handbook “Internationalization: Building multilingual sites” on Drupal.org to reflect some of the new developments with i18n and Drupal 5.x. This new documentation makes it easier to start using i18n and to understand all the new features and fixes that both Jose and Gabor have been helping move forward. It even includes screenshots to show off some of the latest features added to the module.
It is a great place to start if you are looking to see if i18n will fit your needs and should save you a lot of time during basic set up. I know a lot of people new to i18n are coming to this group to see the latest on the module and would like to know more about what is happening right now with drupal 5.x, so I will try to post more often here with user end perspectives.

Drupal Norge, your user-driven community site for translators, developers, and users of Drupal in Norway, has been adding more and more features to help promote Drupal in Norway as well as features for helping existing norwegian users with their own Drupal installations.
New additions such as the "Drupal support på norsk", to be found at http://www.drupalnorge.no/support, is a forum category transformed into a Q&A feature ala Yahoo Answers where users who gave answers to support- questions are also highlighted in a sort-of Hall of Fame block. "Håndbøker på norsk", to be found at http://www.drupalnorge.no/bok, are 3 user handbooks in norwegian. Drupal Norge's user and node search can also be installed automatically as additional search providers for the Firefox and Internet Explorer. These two browsers automatically discover Drupal Norge's search plug-ins. Instructions on the latter are to be found at http://www.drupalnorge.no/sok-drupal-norge-vha-sokeboksen-i-din-nettlese... or visit the site and take a look at your browser's search bar.
Drupal Norge was launched on the 14th of February 2007. The site's address is http://www.drupalnorge.no.

I have started some "step-by-step" handbooks on running drupal on alternative databases (those that are non-standard-drupal).
So far, I have just started Oracle. When I have time, I will try and do the MS SQL one also. I'd love some crituqes on getting this polished off and included in the Drupal.org handbooks.

Read moreWhat training material do you give end users?
Hello to everyone in this group. I work at a web design firm that frequently used Drupal for the backbone of our sites. We always advertise to our clients that their sites are editable and give them an hour or two of training to show them the basics of content creation. However, its rare that a new user retains all of the information that they need to. What we need is a simple end users guide going over the basics of content editing, making pages, using the menu system etc... I have been given a full day next week to put together the best guide possible (given the time constraints).
So my question is What training material do you give end users?
