About Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD)
Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD) is the umbrella group for most of the Drupal activity in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
With several weekly and monthly events, the Greater Los Angeles Area is one the most active areas for Drupal in the world. We've been bringing more Drupal to more people since 2010, and have as many as 10 meetups and other events dedicated to Drupal topics each and every month.
Our members and organizers have produced hundreds of Drupal events, including job fairs, meetups and workshops, conferences, paid trainings, coworking days, study group sessions, movie outings, FREE tutoring sessions from Drupal professionals, and website barnraisings to benefit non-profits and members of our community.
The Greater Los Angeles Drupal leadership team endeavors to actively empower and support volunteers and attendees in the Greater Los Angeles Area, and to provide resources (venues, guidance, equipment, raffle prizes, etc.) and an open governance model with consistency, transparency and accountability.

What's different about this group? (?)
In addition to our unique open governance model, GLAD has a different geographic focus than other regional groups. Formerly named Downtown Los Angeles Drupal, we've been meeting regularly in and around Downtown Los Angeles, California, since early 2010.
GLAD organizers lead a large number of events in the Greater Los Angeles Area, including Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, Culver City, Santa Monica, Pasadena, the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, Riverside and Ventura.

When's a good time for our next Drupal organizers meetup?
It's been a while since our last organizers meetup (the last one was in November, 2013) and it's time for another one.
A lot has happened recently, including having the GLADCamp conference, some organizers moving away or focusing on other things, new sponsors and resources, and some scheduling of upcoming meetups and conferences to work out.
I've created a Doodle poll at http://doodle.com/aykbwxbs2akq96v4 for everyone. The meetup can either be in person or via a video conference. Please state your preference in the comments below.

Hi All,
Christefano suggested I cross post this:
GLADCamp Rebrands as VLADCamp; Focuses on "Drupal for Evil"
A new look for the Greater Los Angeles Drupal Camp has been unveiled. “VLADCamp” is the new name of the conference, co-organized by Greater Los Angeles Drupal organizing team member Christefano Reyes, who announced the name as it epitomizes the goals for the organization moving forward.
“GLADCamp was originally envisioned as being the Drupal community's marquee event of the year that heavily focuses on the needs of non-profits, education and civic engagement. After trying 'Drupal for Good' this year, we decided that 'Drupal for Evil' would be more fun,” he explained.

The 1st Tuesday of the month is coming up again and soon it will time for the next Downtown Drupal meetup! We're meeting at Opodz Coworking in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles, on Tuesday, April 1, 2013 from 7-9pm. Those interested in attending this meetup remotely are welcome to join us via WebEx.
To celebrate April Fools Days, this meetup features a presentation on Drupal Joke Modules and a review of what they do, from the classic Talk Like a Pirate module to the recent Password Backup & Restore module from the Droplabs module development boot camp. These may require bad judgement or just a sense of humor, but this will surely be an entertaining presentation for everyone!
At this meetup, we're having our usual news and announcements, as well as raffle prizes, community Q&A, lightning talks (which are short, bite-sized presentations) and featured presentations. Is there a presentation topic that you're interested in? Post a comment to either request or offer a presentation, or contact any of the organizers listed above.
