About Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD)
Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD) is the umbrella group for most of the Drupal activity in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
With several weekly and monthly events, the Greater Los Angeles Area is one the most active areas for Drupal in the world. We've been bringing more Drupal to more people since 2010, and have as many as 10 meetups and other events dedicated to Drupal topics each and every month.
Our members and organizers have produced hundreds of Drupal events, including job fairs, meetups and workshops, conferences, paid trainings, coworking days, study group sessions, movie outings, FREE tutoring sessions from Drupal professionals, and website barnraisings to benefit non-profits and members of our community.
The Greater Los Angeles Drupal leadership team endeavors to actively empower and support volunteers and attendees in the Greater Los Angeles Area, and to provide resources (venues, guidance, equipment, raffle prizes, etc.) and an open governance model with consistency, transparency and accountability.

Several of our members and organizers proudly participate in the California Drupal Travelers Program, which aims to connect businesses and community members who are visiting the area with our local community and events. Inquire within by contacting any of the Greater Los Angeles Drupal organizers, or by joining the global Drupal Hospitality Network.
What's different about this group? (?)
In addition to our unique open governance model, GLAD has a different geographic focus than other regional groups. Formerly named Downtown Los Angeles Drupal, we've been meeting regularly in and around Downtown Los Angeles, California, since early 2010.
GLAD organizers lead a large number of events in the Greater Los Angeles Area, including Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, Culver City, Santa Monica, Pasadena, the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, Riverside and Ventura.
Items here are "new and interesting" based on their number of votes, number of comments, how recently it was posted, etc.
Suggested Topics
Is there a topic you'd like to learn more about? Would you like to offer a presentation, show-and-tell, or quick lightning talk? Please take a look at our Suggested Topics page.
For events by other Drupal user groups in the area, see our Drupal Meetups in the Greater Los Angeles Area page.

Join us at Droplabs on Friday & Saturday, June 15-16, 2012, for a Barn Raising and Code Sprint to benefit the Echo Park Time Bank and TimeBanks USA!
There's something for everyone at this two-day event and you're welcome to attend either or both days. If you're interested in learning more about Drupal and getting some practical hands-on experience, or if you're a Drupal power user and would like to help mentor others into using Drupal's best practices for site development, this is an excellent opportunity.
The Echo Park Time Bank is a non-profit community collective with a mission to facilitate the cooperative exchange of goods and services among its hundreds of members. Since September 2011, the Echo Park Time Bank has been using Drupal to manage their community website at http://arroyoseco.timebanks.org and its currency system.
At this barn raising, we'll be improving the online membership application and implementing a realname policy for usernames. The work we do will be shared with TimeBanks USA, which will directly benefit the 300+ time banks that have their own sites that use the same Drupal distribution.
This is our second barn raising for the time bank and directly builds upon the work we completed last time. See http://ex.tl/ZTT for more information about our last barn raising and code sprint.

We will also attempt to create one module during the 27 weeks we are meeting. We have a wiki to record meeting notes and discussions at http://groups.drupal.org/node/235103.
