O'Reilly User Group Program

Hey everybody,

We've just been accepted into the O'Reilly User Group Program. This means that as a group, we can get free review copies of O'Reilly books as long as they are used to the benefit of the group.

As the contact for the program, I can request virtually any O'Reilly book for any member - I think that in the spirit of the program, any book we request should be shared with the rest of the group (by the recipient of the book) in the following ways:

  1. The recipient should post a review of the book on groups.drupal.org/florida.

Getting Started with a basic 960 Grid theme

So I attended the Even More Themes session at Florida Drupal Camp and I was intrigued by the concept of the 960 Grid. I like having a compliant, well formed theme to use but I am having some trouble getting started. I grabbed the ninesixty theme and installed. I am trying to create a sub theme (new concept for me) based on that theme but I am not sure where to start. I have spent the last three days reading up on the web and I even tried using some CSS and HTML generators but the page I created to test the CSS doesn't seem to work properly. Pretty sure I did something goofy.

Great DrupalCamp & Errata

I want to congratulate and thank those that worked to organize FL DrupalCamp this year. It was truly an outstanding job with great presentations all around. I really got a lot out of it.

I also wanted to correct something I mentioned during ultimike's presentation on "Imaging Workflows" before people go home and start banging their heads against a wall trying to figure it out.

Florida Drupal Camp - Spot needed!

Hi all,

Just wondering if there are any fence-sitters out there who might be willing to give up their Drupal camp Florida spot. I promised my very awesome mentor that I would attend with him and I was very disappointed to see that it is sold out! Anyone want to help a newbie out?

Thanks so much,
Nicole

The Last Florida DrupalCamp Planning Conference Call!!!

Start:
2010-02-16 20:30 - 22:00 America/New_York
Organizers:
Event type:
Online meeting (eg. IRC meeting)

Greetings everybody,

The last (and possibly most important) planning conference call from Florida DrupalCamp 2010 will be held tonight at a special time - 8:30pm.

From 8:30-9pm, Damien will be leading the discussion and the topic will be the beginner sessions. If you're presenting a beginner session, then you need to be in on this call (Joe, Marc, Ryan, Charles, Doug, Don, Gaelan, Damien, and myself).

Our "normal" rundown planning call will start at 9pm - everybody who volunteered to help should do everything they can to make this call.

Beginners Sessions Presenters - please have sessions planned out by Tuesday's call

I'd like to ask that all presenters for the Beginners Track sessions have their respective sessions planned out by Tuesday's conference call so that we can do a quick go-over on what each one will be in sequence, to help ensure everything flows together well and there are no obvious gaps. As a result, I'd also like everyone who's giving a Beginners Track session be on the Tuesday call. Thanks.

Florida DrupalCamp Photographer?

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to step up and be an "official" photographer for Florida DrupalCamp? Ideally, it would be someone (or multiple someones) who already isn't signed up to do anything during the camp. It would be great to have a bunch of photos from the camp posted somewhere that everyone has access to.

Post a comment below if you'd be willing to help out.

-mike

Miami Drupal Group reborn. Two meetings set.

I'm starting (okay, restarting) the Miami Drupal Group. We had an organizing meeting last week in Sunny Isles and our next two meetings are now set for downtown Miami at Knight Foundation offices for Feb. 24th and March 24th.

At our Feb. 24th meeting we'll review Drupalcamp and Wordcamp, plan for FOWA Miami and hopefu...lly talk about municipal wireless projects.

At the March 24th meeting we'll look at the winning projects of the Knight Drupal Initiative.

Find us in Drupal Groups and join (free of course) at [http://groups.drupal.org/node/2175].

Florida DrupalCamp Update

With Florida DrupalCamp less than 3 weeks away, I thought now would be a good time to give everyone a quick synopsis of what's going to be going on at the camp.

Registration has been open for over a month and so far, we have a little over 100 people signed up for the camp. The cost to register is $6.11, but if you're a student or work for a non-profit, we'll waive the fee. We have a hard-cap on attendance of 150, so be sure to register before it is too late.
