The Media group is the working group for the Drupal 7 File entity module, Media module and all the various modules that extend Media. The Media group is a place for all interested parties to collaborate and discuss anything related to the Drupal Media "ecosystem".

Prague core conversation followup

(this is a wiki, edit!)

We need to map the different moving parts and find ways to draw the lines between different kind of 'jobs' (functionality). For example "seperate file handling from media handling."

  • Map the moving parts on API level
  • Draw lines
  • Find the 3(?) high level use cases

We need to map out the territory, set some goal posts and draw the roads towards those goals

getting Media going

hey guys,

I was trying to get Media going so I could start playing with it, and I went to the Media project page, looked through the required modules and installed them individually, then installed the Media module. I went for the 7.x-2.0-alpha2 version because I'm in the Media group and noticed that a lot of people said they were using this version just fine.

I went to add a photo to my sample animal profile (content type), and after I clicked select I got this error:

Is the media project dead?

I've provided a few patches for the various modules that drive the media module and extend it. Yet most of the patches appear to be ignored and the modules as a whole don't appear to have any recent releases.

Is it fair to assume that this initiative has seriously stalled or is just plain dead?

What Media Module should I use to create a robust Media Library?

I'm a Drupal noobie, and I'm developing a site for the wildcat sanctuary where I work. We have massive need of a good media library, but I'm at a loss for how to go about researching what to use. Here's some of the features I'm trying to get for the site.

  1. Media library can contain many types of media files- photo, video, audio
  2. Media can be tagged for
    a. use in primary graphic slideshow on website pages (i.e. tiger photos used on tiger species page, event photos used on event pages, etc.)
    b. download by approved users - press packets, media requests

Media browser in node edit not showing pager

I am using the Media 7.x-1.3 module on a Drupal 7.22 site. I also use Media Browser Plus 7.x-1.0-beta3. In some nodes I have a media file field. When I edit such a node and open the media browser using the 'Select media' link in my node edit form, the media overlay opens up. It has three tabs: Upload, Web, and Library.

When I open the Library tab, I see 3 rows of 5 images each. But I do not see a pager, although I know I have more images of the same type in the media library. I can see them when I open the media browser /admin/content/media
