My company is looking for better tools/softwares to migrate our dynamic content pages and community.
Community is comprised of Forum, Wiki, Groups, Blog, Bug Tracker (integrated to Jira). The site needs to also handle multi-languages where approved members will be able to translate blog posts/wikis/etc to their own respective languages. e.g. If a translated English blog post is available in French, only the French version will be displayed if switched to French language, etc.
I've been looking into Drupal and even testing Drupal Commons by Acquia. Everything looks great but our main concern is about whether or not Drupal can handle simultaneous search queries on high trafficked sites.
Anyone has experience or can point to sites (other than drupal.org :) )that have all above modules with high traffic and membership. I see Acquia offers Acquia Search service and also wondering if anyone knows much about it. Cost and benefit vs using built-in search engine.

Drupal's built-in search
Drupal's built-in search module has been called "the best open source search technology for any PHP- and MySQL-based content management system, which isn't saying much." (I'm still looking for the exact quote, but it's attributed to Robert Douglass, the chief search meister at Acquia.)
As a whole, the Drupal community is moving toward integrating Drupal and Solr whenever high performance is desired. Sphinx is also ridiculously fast.
It's surprisingly difficult to search through the featured case studies on Drupal.org that mention Solr and high performance and scalability, but you can check out out Acquia's own list of case studies at http://acquia.com/resources/casestudies
Drupal Search
Yes Drupal built in search is solid and as Christefano pointed out - basic.
Solr rocks but in the Drupal implementation as is, is limited. Solr can do so much more... can be expanded upon... these things are being developed for Drupal in Corps but not share as they are too NICHE to the needs of the corp. There needs to be a way soon to open these options up as choices. Solr has many choices and the Drupal module picks one option. The Acquia option offers this one option without having to configure your own Solr server but still leaves alot to be desired.
Still, u can do what you want with Solr and Drupal at the end of the day... so u are not limited.

Jira isn't horrible. I prefer Fogbugz but Jira is probably better on pricing and you can use Balsamiq with both which is a major plus.
Apachesolr Views
You might want to check out Apachesolr Views. It's the power of Solr combined with the ability to do all sorts of custom stuff with views. It's quite flexible in terms of what you can cook up. From a scalability perspective, Solr is also a plus because of the ability to decouple it from the rest of the Drupal stack. The author's sites are also quite highly trafficed but I'm also guessing they are mixing in varnish, memcache, etc.
