I am new to the group...
But I wanted to submit my idea about getting more exposure / SEO / "Word Out" about the local L.A. Drupal Group.
[which, is great, by the way. Thanks for those who have made it possible and informed me.]
Here's my idea. It's simple.
Get everyone Inside and even Outside the group to 'tag' and/or 'do a write up' on their Stumble account!
Sound crazy? Maybe. But I'm willing to bet if someone types in Los Angeles Drupal in Google a month after doing it, then give me $5 per hit if at least one or more links to a StumbleUpon account don't come up WHICH would have listed and lead to a link to the World Famous L.A. Drupal Group.
Don't believe me? Try it.
If everyone in our group signs up for a StumbleUpon account and tags our group. AND if everyone in our group who already has a StumbleUpon account does a write of the group. And if by chance you happen to get someone OUTSIDE the group who will write up/or tag us just because they Like Drupal [as they should!,] then our likelyhood of people finding us and discovering that there is a fantastic official user group for Drupal in Los Angeles WILL CERTAINLY increase.
There are MANY groups on StumbleUpon, some of which I have already joined, such as OPEN SOURCE, SOFTWARE, ETC. that would be perfect for this.
Also - Let me just say. StumbleUpon is a pretty powerful social networking platform. Not to mention a cool way to discover new Web Development, Design, Programming, and cool websites.
Might be a good pointer to bring up at the next meeting?? What do you think? You guys decide. Just a quick thought from a newbie.

[P.S. - Just as a quick backround note... Just to give you an idea... I love Drupal - and I have been thinking it would be good to find others, BUT up until recently, it Never occured to me to find / Groups Drupal. I know it sounds stupid but I've been on the Drupal site quite a few times but I never looked up L.A. or my LOCAL Drupal Group. If it weren't for you guys bringing it to my attention then I would have never have known. Or at least for a while longer.
If everyone tags L.A. Drupal Group... if someone is looking for it in Search Engines then this is a great way to let more people "know" you're here. Oh. I forgot to mention a great way to tell people how great Drupal is. :-) ]
?Maybe I do have some experience in marketing after all. I don't know.
Anyway Thanks - Back to work. Anyone got a few hours left in the day they can give me? I never seem to have enough lately.
Thanks for the group you guys do a great job at running it and it's a great Drupal group for sure.

Great! Everyone, link to us from any site.
There are tons of websites and services, social or not, that would benefit by us posting information about our group and our events. It takes tons of time just pasting info across more than a few sites, ala, Upcoming.org, Eventful, Groups.Drupal.org, LADrupal.org, personal blogs, IRC room, Meetup.com, MeetupAlliance, etc., so any help members and fans can provide by posting an upcoming meeting, or whatever you feel helps will help. We post main info/content on this site, so this is the official channel of LA Drupal and any echo of the info is good for us.
Start the Stumble content and maintain it with and for us. Then keep the official LA Drupal group site updated with your help and progress and nobody should go un-thanked. :)
