So I found this at the local scrum club website and I thought it might be a fun thing to see if we could put together a team from the LADrupal group to work together to compete in this site building contest (much like the discussed full code sprint event). This is a local event and it will benefit a local student organization. Below are the details:
The Code Show is a one day event designed to bring out the best teams in technology and pit them against each other in a competitive environment.
This year’s event benefits Inner-City Filmmakers , a non-profit local to the Los Angeles and Hollywood community. ICF is the only free broad-based professional non-profit filmmaking program of its kind in the country. ICF has successfully trained and placed over 50% of its graduates in paying entry-level jobs at film studios and production companies. Since 1993 ICF has been guided by its founding goal of providing free year-round professional, technical and business skills training and paid work opportunities to low-income inner city students where they can gain knowledge, perfect skills and develop their potential to the fullest extent....

No way to lose!
Even if, for some strange reason, we didn't win, we'd still have a framework for a site/product that could be repurposed in many ways. The idea(l) of a competition (for a good cause) is great in general. Something we might want to explore for other 'Drupal' beneficial projects we've been talking about.

Drupal TV Show
I'd be interested in watching this event. I've actually been looking into creating a web/TV show that follows a team of 4-5 drupal experts as they create or rebuild websites in 24 hours using drupal. It would be an "extreme home makeover" style, only replace the homes with websites. Since there are only tutorials about drupal, I think there would be a large need for people to see the flexibility and variety that drupal can achieve. It would also be a great way to highlight each of the experts and the companies they represent. If anyone is interested in getting involved or being one of the experts, let me know.
