Last meet up we talked about universal design and how CSS media queries and responsive design could change how you create a Drupal theme. Take a second and consider the following:
The idea of adding more code-adding more to download-in order to optimize for mobile should be the first clue that it might not be the best solution.
This meetup we will talk about setting up a separate mobile website and how they can be a good thing.
Come to the Ninjitsu Web Development office on the 5th floor to see some mobile Drupal theming.

This looks great. What time does it start and end?
7 - 9PM
The start time's listed there at the top, although it's part of the date, and in 24 hour time, so it is a little weird.

This is usually a rehearsal night for me, but I'll make it if I can!
Perfect timming
I am working on a project that requires a mobile solution! This area becomes a requirement to any theme same as cross browser computability.

This is a great topic, Ishmael! Any chance this is getting recorded, or even a screencast or some slides (not the same as being there, but somethin's better than nothin' ;)?

Agenda?
Hi and thanks for posting this. Do you by chance have a more detailed agenda of what you are going to be talking about? IE, are you going into detail on any specific mobile frameworks? PhoneGap/Titanium/Sencha Touch/jQtouch/jQuery Mobile/etc? Or are you only going over server-side HTML/CSS theming of a site? Also would you consider the topic to be beginner, intermediate, or advanced?
No real agenda since our
No real agenda since our meetup are pretty small and it's some demo and lots of Q/A. Today will be mobile theme with device detection, I say intermediate. In the future feel free to post these questions before the day of the actual meet up ;).
titanium?5
I also cannot make the meeting tonight. Have any of you connected to Titanium with services and Json?
In the last meet up I spoke
In the last meet up I spoke about the three different types of mobile implementations in Drupal and we spoke about using using media queries and responsive themes. Today will be using mobile specific themes and how to set that up in Drupal. Maybe in a future meet up we can talk about building a native mobile app and using Drupal as backend.
Thanks
Thanks for the reply! I'd definitely be interested in the native app approach, especially with PhoneGap as a wrapper. I may be in a position to contribute as I'm rolling this together now.
Cool hit me up if you wanna
Cool hit me up if you wanna do a talk.
maybe by the time...
maybe by the time there's a local presentation on connecting to Drupal, as an app on Android or iPhone, from Titanium, or some other mobile app creating software, I'll have figured out Services and Json! I'm also trying out Flash for creating Android and iPhone apps -- you create the app in ActionScript, and Flash converts it into Java or Objective C code -- and I would guess Adobe has a way to bring in Drupal through Services.
Creating an app connecting to Drupal is the future, in my opinion, not just creating a web browser display.
