Plus...

In addition to our presentation(s) of the night we have open-mic opportunities for those who have general Drupal questions or need help, time for those who are hiring or looking for consultants, upcoming Drupal training announcements, prizes for attendees, and as always, the end of the meeting networking session with the fun and knowledgeable LA Drupal crowd.

I love Drush and must defend its honor

That's like saying that views.module doesn't do anything without the Views UI module! :P

Drush is technically an API but it includes modules that can run cron, clear the cache, install contrib modules, execute SQL queries, etc. Hopefully these will be covered in the meetup, as well as the workaround to get Drush working with MAMP.

omg! you're so funny

omg! you're so funny sometimes, and I love your sense of humor!

but next time, before posting public ridicule,,, "read" the readme.txt file. The line you quoted is cut-and-paste from the file, and I presume drush author...

:-)

HOWEVER, the bad news about all this is John won't actually be able to make it tomorrow for the Drush presentation. The good news is Blake is prepared to really get into the Views2 module. Guess I need to update the meeting. ;-)

I'm also hoping this months meeting can provide a little more time for some good group interaction & open floor discussion. christefano, and other LA folk, bring your humor!

Mike, I'm sorry you saw my comment

Mike, I'm sorry you saw my comment as public ridicule. Sure, I like to tease you a little but that's because I see you as a friend and colleague. I'll tone it down and be sure to say this again in person tomorrow.

Here's the the paragraph containing the quote that I mistakenly attributed to you. It more or less says what I said in my comment (but without the teasing part).

drush.module itself doesn't provide any actual tools or commands but the API for those. There are several modules that provide drush utilities included in this download. See Package Manager, SQL Tools, and Toolbox.

tis all good

Christefano, noooo, it's all good! I totally took it as it was meant... and apparently MY sarcasm didn't come across in my post. damn programmer in me needs to read more literature.

FWIW, I chose the portion of the paragraph I did in a (now pointless) attempt to create some controversy or at stir some questions about what it is that Drush actually does. I think a lot of people have heard of it,,, but not really understand how it can help them. Too bad we're not having the presentation this month.

oh, and "rita" says hi :-P
