Hi folks,
We're looking to meet with some local folks who might be interested in helping to expand drupal's social networking and activism capabilites. This project would primarily be a paid consulting gig, but I think there would be considerable benefits for the community as well. Sort of a combination online activist/hired gun would be perfect.
Thanks!

The Boston users group is meeting for the fifth time. Here is our topic:
Making applications with module mashups: Online Classifieds
One of Drupal's core strengths is the ability to combine multiple modules in various ways to create new functionality. Barry Jaspan will discuss how he implemented commerce-enabled Classified Ads in Drupal by integrating the CCK, Views, Actions, Scheduled Actions, Workflow, and E-Commerce modules along with a bit of custom code. Barry is a Drupal developer located in Boston, MA.
We will be hosted by Erica George at the Berkman Center at Harvard University. We are meeting upstairs in the Berkman Conference Room
After the meetup, some of us will likely continue the conversation over dinner at a local restaurant.

Lullabot has another round of workshops coming up in January. We've got a great space in Providence, RI centrally located for people in both the Boston and New York areas -- and close to the airport for people coming from further away. Over the course of the week, we'll be building a single project – a Drupal-based CRM and attendees can sign up for individual workshops, or stay the whole week to see the project from beginning to end. Here's the rundown:

Dev House Boston (http://upcoming.org/event/126815/) is a brand new event giving programmers and designers the opportunity to hack out something cool, in a day, and present it to lots of interested people. And at the end of the day -- whether you've got working code, page mockups, or just an elevator pitch -- you'll share your work with a group of people who know where you're coming from.
I would like to invite Drupal developers to use the opportunity and work together on a SIMPLE Contact Management module. CiviCRM is great but seems to be overkill for many situations. Maybe we can use as a starting concept Touchbase, a 15 year old program for the Macintosh.

Hi all. I was thinking that it would be fun if we designated one day a week as a meatspace day. On that day, some of us get together in a room somewhere and work individually on our projects. Just bring a laptop. Is a good time to get help from each other and build some contacts and friendships.
I propose the first meatspace take place this Friday at MIT Stata Center. They have free wifi (a requirement), and lots of tables and rooms. The building was designed by Frank Gehry, and is an inspiring venue. The only hard part will be finding each other. We'll think of something.

There has been a guy, from Eastern Europe I believe, who is working on a module to allow phone messages be left on the server and then streamed out---or some kind of similar functionality. He has come to the last couple of Drupal meetup in the Boston area. Can someone please tell me who he is or how to get a hold of him? Depending on how well the project suits one of my client's need, I may have some development money for him.

The Jewish Women's Archive has launched its first drupal sub-sites (http://jwablog.jwa.org, http://birthday.jwa.org for two that are public) and is looking for help to get to the next level. In particular, this winter we want to convert the main site to Drupal (http://www.jwa.org ). We also have begun to enter the current century with our latest online collecting project (not Drupal), http://katrina.jwa.org.
Most of the current site is written using static html and is entombed in pre-current-century html tables. Over the next couple years we want to standardize the codebase, focusing on a css-only layout, rethink the overall site layout, and add a host of new services on selected sections, starting with geography-based queries (using either the google or yahoo map apis), tagging, comments, and other site personalization.

- What we don’t know about Drupal and want to learn about.
We can get into these topics and also use it as the basis for figuring out presentations that might be done at future meetings.

Hello! It was nice to meet all of you at the last meetup, and I am sorry I couldn't stay for dinner. I look forward to the next meetup. John's presentation was very impressive, I don't know Javascript coding at all, but as an end user, I can see how this library will be extremely beneficial to Drupal in the future.
I have been a drupal user for about a year and a half, and I am pretty comfortable with setting up my own installations and managing a drupal site. What I don't know much about is theming, and I really need some help. My site in question is www.charlesriverskatepark.org . It is a community installation for the Charles River Skatepark Project, a 40,000 square foot custom concrete skateboard park to be built underneath the Zakim Bridge.
