While not specifically about Drupal, many developers use vi / vim and this presentation is an excellent opportunity to learn more about this tool of the trade. In addition, this meetup is at Media Temple, a venue sponsor of Drupal meetups and generous sponsor of the Drupal Design Camp LA and DrupalCamp LA conferences.

Agenda

For the August UUASC-LA presentation, we will be pulling our heads out
of the clouds for an evening to take a side on a religious topic, text editors,
specifically getting more out of the vi / vim editor.

Most people use about 10% of vi/vim's capabilities and the
presentation provides the opportunity to learn more and increase your speed and enjoyment in text editing.

This tutorial covers the history, background and design principles of
vim; many vim movement commands; some text alteration commands; and the vim command language syntax.

Attendees should bring a laptop with a "vim" editor for the in-class
exercises. No prior experience is required but 20 year veterans of vi have come out raving how much they've learned.

Thanks for hosting this meetup! I'm sorry I couldn't make it.

Do you know if the presentation was recorded? I heard that Aleksey will be presenting this again in a few weeks and would love to hear more about that.
