A small business client would like to have a paper-less office for HR material. This includes the usual information, benefit forms, acceptance letter, etc. I am looking for suggestions.

I have searched drupal.org and Google for open-source solutions. I have not found anything that is appealing to both my client and myself. The most-promising ones I did find seem to have rather steep learning curves and include a lot more in the system than my client needs/wants.

The ideal solution would integrate with Drupal (because the rest of the client's site uses Drupal), secure handle sensitive information (like SSN), control access to documents by user, and manage much to all of the traditional paper-based documentation that accompanies employees. This system would not be used for time-keeping or payroll. The software needs to run in a LAMP environment.

I would appreciate any suggestions for such a solution. Drupal modules would be best, but external applications may also be acceptable.

Thanks for ideas.

Have you looked at something

Have you looked at something like Acquia Commons?

   https://drupal.org/project/commons

Acquia has put a "social network for businesses" spin on their product, but it's a decent framework for building what you've described so far.

Please consider cross-posting this to the Downtown Los Angeles Drupal group:

There may be members there who may have ideas but who are not in this group. Thanks!

You may want to attend this webinar that Acquia is giving about combining alfresco with drupal. https://www.acquia.com/resources/acquia-tv/conference/losing-document-ba...

Alfresco is an open source cloud based document management system, you can check it out here http://www.alfresco.com/

Alfresco/Acquia HR Solution

@Christefano & @TimeTheEnchanter:

I had done a quick look at Alfresco/Acquia as a solution before my original post. It seemed like it would require more development than my client wanted to pursue. I will take another deeper look to see if I missed something.

Thanks,
