LA Drupal meets at least once a month, bringing together professional and upcoming talent from the world of Drupal. This month our meeting will include the following agenda:
-
Build Kick-ass Drupal Sites - Without Coding! - our esteemed co-manager, Mike Stewart (MEDIA DONE RIGHT) will be covering the essentials that everyone building Drupal sites should know. If you are just getting started with Drupal, this is a great treat since Mike will be diving into Drupal setup, tools, processes, and the most important part - where to find help! Join us early for this presentation that can put you on the path to being a Drupal Ninja.
-
BAD Camp 2009 - some locals attended the semi-annual Drupal camp up north. We may get to hear some of the highlights of the camp.
-
DrupalCon San Francisco 2010 - the next official Drupal conference will be in San Francisco, California. Any new details about our popular conference will be shared with us locals. Early tickets are bound to be on sale soon, maybe before our meeting! The conference is set for April 19-21st, 2010. Online info http://drupalconsf2010.org
Lightning Talks - come prepared to talk for 5 min. about something you'd like to share with the Drupal group. Finished a new Drupal site? Find a cool new module? Keep it succinct - you get stopped at five minutes - but we'll be nice about it. Please comment on this event page if you'd like to present a lightning talk at our meeting.
NOTE: our official Drupal Groups site (http://groups.drupal.org/la) is undergoing some major upgrades, so they don't look pretty like before and a lot of info is missing. Please bare with the rest of the Drupal community while we wait for the upgrades to be completed.
Networking session followed by Job Announcements.
And...
In addition to our presentation(s) of the night we have open-mic opportunities for those who have general Drupal questions or need help during our wonderful meeting segment, "Ask the LA Drupal Community." Need to just ask another human a Drupal question? Then this is that chance.
We have raffle prizes for attendees, and as always, the end of the meeting is our networking session with the fun and knowledgeable LA Drupal crowd.
Those wishing to make announcements for Drupal jobs/work, please come early and talk with the organizers and we can provide time for you to speak to the audience.

Whats an LA Drupal meetup like? Fun & Interesting!
LA Drupal meetups are free and open to anyone interested in Drupal from beginner to guru, but you have to bring a fun attitude and be willing to share or learn.
We have areas for networking, general topics, and more advanced learning and sharing. Presentations and a big breakout session at the end to chat and network.
We like to highlight and encourage folks with cool local projects to present at upcoming meetings. In the past year we've had presenters from Warner Brothers Records; hosting over a hundred artist sites on Drupal, StandUp2Cancer.org - over a million hits in one day during the airing of the show, and local shops such as www.ThisByThem.com, www.openChimp.com, www.chillco.com, www.exaltations.net, www.IJHANA.com, www.WorkHabit.com, www.AchieveInternet.com, and others. Topics have included How to build your first Drupal Module, Using Views 1 & Views 2, Panels module, Drush module, Theming, and Scaling Drupal & Cloud computing among others.
Have a topic you'd like to see? Add it here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/9220

Looking forward to it
I've been using Drupal & VbDrupal for quite a few years, however I haven't been doing anything for the past 6 months. I'm looking forward to getting back into it.
BTW, I live Downtown, if anyone is local to me.

Had to cancel
I have to cancel my attendance, something came up.
I was looking forward to it.
How often are these going to be ??
Meeting Dates
Don,
They typically meet the final Tuesday of each month. So if you miss one, you can always make the next.
BTW, out of curiosity, do you work for 944 Magazine?
Not been feeling that great
I've been feeling under the weather the past week so I think I'll have to miss this one out in order to not contaminate the other folk in the community (which sucks since I really wanted to come) :( Have fun, guys.
Good times - Thanks to Mike, Chris, Kate, Causecast and the gang
Thanks all for putting on another great meetup. Always informative, entertaining, and good hang. A takeaway from this is there's a desire/need for more of a sustained effort between the monthly meetups. I know the scatterdness of this area (not the people..haha) has something to do with it, but we could figure out ways to form smaller working groups and virtually connect. This project learning group may be a piece of this puzzle - http://drupalkata.com/home once we figure out the best way to structure.
Just some random thoughts - let's do this more often!
