During the course you will learn by building a web application from scratch. Go from command line project creation all the way through deployment. The course will touch every basic principle of Ruby and Rails and work with a number of external libraries to build real, practical applications and not sample, vanilla projects. Since most students will come with programming experience, expect to work at a fast pace and build in real time.
The course is designed for those with programming experience in another language, but is open to anyone dedicated to mastering their skills and learning fast, even if you’ve never programmed before.
The instructor, Ian Hunter, is the CTO of Zaarly. Class size limited to 12 to ensure each person gets maximum value out of the course.
The code is: ladrupal ($150 off), active through November 8th.

While I was wondering the same thing, I'm not opposed to hearing about events like this.
Especially when there's a discount code specifically for the user group. I'm grateful for that.
If anything, this event is a "Related event (i.e. not Drupal-specific") and can be categorized as such. Right now it shows up on the Drupal Groups event calendar as a Drupal training.
