What It's Like
The format of this meetup is very casual (and round-table), so bring whatever Drupal-related projects you are currently working through, and (if you'd like) some food or beverage to share.
Anyone can join the project and study group at any time!
Agenda
As usual, we'll break the meetup up into two parts:
FIRST HOUR
We will discuss challenges that we are facing in our real projects, and help each other find solutions. Bring whatever (Drupal-related) questions or challenges you have! This covers a broad range from theming issues, wireframing/UI challenges, difficulty getting a migration script to work, whatever you have. If it relates to Drupal in any way, bring it up! We're here to help each other.
SECOND HOUR
We are working together to build a Drupal 8 site, giving us the opportunity to learn from each other's working styles and test the boundaries of Drupal 8 without the restrictions of working on a client site. The project is going to focus on the challenges of a media-centric responsive site. It will morph as we come up with ideas.
When work together on the site, we use a format called mob programming. The idea is that we all work together at the same time, on the same task, using the same computer, rotating in who's "driving" and "navigating" every 10 minutes or so. Check out the manifesto of the group from which btmash got this idea if you'd like a sneak preview. This way we can all see what working on Drupal 8 is like together, and perhaps better use our combined mental faculties.
Resources
We have a github organization for the project: pizzandrupal. If you're coming to the meetup and aren't connected as a collaborator, please let Joe Chellman know ahead of time. He can set you in person as well, of course.

Ashok set up the repo using Lullabot Boilerplate, so you may want to read this to understand the directory structure:

Creating a module this month
Part of the agenda for learning Drupal 8 this month is going to be to create a module that does something. What that something is will be up for discussion but its going to be fairly simple. Also, we will be looking at the Drupal 8 Console and using that to help generate our module.
Drupal 8 module generator
Sorry that I couldn't make it tonight. It started to rain out here on the west side and my bus/bike travel plans had to be reevaluated, since I didn't want to be stuck out there in the rain. I installed the Console App after DrupalCamp L.A. this past September and build a basic module with it. I could probably have given you a few tips. But I will try to make it to the next meeting, and maybe the topic will carry over. One thing that I definitely learned is DO NOT try to install it with Drupal 8.1, which the Console App doesn't like.
