The Santa Cruz Drupal User's Group is looking to connect Drupal users in and around Santa Cruz, California.
We have a budding tech community in Santa Cruz. One factor in our tech growth is the use of Drupal at several local web shops, start-ups, and organizations. Drupal use at UC Santa Cruz is also growing and it's time we all got together to share knowledge and learn from each other.
We (almost always) meet on the first Tuesday of each month, at 7pm. Meetings are free and held at NextSpace at 101 Cooper Street in downtown Santa Cruz. All are welcome. Ring the buzzer to get let into the building.
Note - If the meeting day falls on a holiday or during the winter holidays (e.g. January), then we might reschedule or cancel the meeting but there will be a discussion or event here for it.

Hi all,
The August meeting with be Tuesday August 6th. Topics? Presenters? Leave a comment :)
We are open to relevant non-Drupal topics too. Julia mentioned talking about Compass sprites.
If no one has anything, I could go over the Privatemsg module. It uses entities in D7 and has a patch for Views integration.

Hi all!!!
Host?
Do we have an NSer who can host us for this Tuesday. I heard a rumor that we might be losing our official NS host (currently Murias). Darren - can you host us?
Moving venues?
Maybe we need to discuss the possibility of moving the meeting to another venue... I would prefer to keep it where it is because that is familiar but... always having to make sure there is a NSer there does cause some uncertainty. Anyone have ideas of other places we could do this?
Read moreWindows Server 2008 Permissions problem
Hello SC Drupal group members,
I should have known better than to try and work with Windows, but hopefully there is a simple answer...
I have a fresh Drupal 7 Commerce Kickstart Install on a Windows 2008 Server running IIS 7. I ran into a permissions problem during installation (sites/all/files/ not writable), but was able to changed them to get the install to work.
However, now the install is completed and the site is up, I can't upload images.
Anyone have any tips for setting Windows permissions correctly for the files directory?
Thanks in advance!
- Jacob
Looking for non-Drupal PHP Devloper and someone with Joomla expertise (plus Drupal 7 help soon)
Hi fellow group members.
I have a referral partner that normally passes Drupal work to me, but today he presented a couple of odd requests, so I thought I'd reach out to the group and see if anyone's interested in taking some non-Drupal work on.

Best Californian companies
Hi.
I am thinking about moving into California(from Europe) and I am curious about which California based companies are the best ones to work for? I'm more interested in full service advertising afencies rather than just companies specialized on websites(pure Drupal shops). Also I'm more interested in companies with more than 50 employees(I've worked for small companies and want a change of environment).
Which companies would you recommend?

Hi! I have an extra DrupalCon ticket since one of our developers can't attend the conference as planned. Let me know if you or someone you know is still looking for a ticket and I'll hook you UP!
Cheers,

Why do you go to Drupal Camps?
I go to Drupal camps because I know that if I learn one new thing or meet one cool person who's willing to share their experiences with me, then it was a successful use of my time. Whatever I learn doesn't even have to be Drupal related, the point is I'm a wiser person for having immersed myself into the community. I organize Drupal camps because I want others to have that same opportunity, and it's rewarding for me to see people get together and share their brilliant ideas and work.
So, why do you go to Drupal Camps (big, small, local, international)?
Read moreMedia Browser
I have some work that needs to be done around the Media Browser and I could either use some assistance, or direction from others experience on the site I am working on. I am happy to hire out the work if you know what you are doing and get it kicked back out quickly.
The Need:
The website adds content through a media browser that can search through directories as configured and then place them inline where needed. This media already exists and just needs to be grabbed and shown in the browser.
If you have ideas, please share.

Does anyone have experience creating new product types, products, line items, content types for commerce so that one can add a product?
I can use the commerce kickstart, but I need to implement commerce via module install on an existing site. I might even be able to use you for a short while on the project for some of the heavier pieces or to jump start the site.

Hi, I could use a little help. I just updated several modules on my site, along with the corresponding database updates & now I can't get back in. Everything went fine. No errors at all. With all the updates complete I could navigate throughout the site fine before I logged off. (I did update the modules without updating to the latest version of Drupal core for D7.)
Here is the error I'm getting:

I like to post locally first, before going global. ;^)
Here's the scenario:
Each user has their profile using Profile2. I have a OG group type where users of course are going to be admins. I need all group members to be able to view the group admin's profile.
Of course this to me seems basic and doable, but now been struggling with this for a few days now. Seemingly after reading some threads this is doable, and need to turn on Profile2 Group Access to make this work. Well, I have turned it on, and I see no changes to any cfg page anywhere.

We will meet next month on Tuesday May 7th at 7pm at Nextspace.
I can't remember if we picked any topics at the last meeting ;) If we did, add a comment. Otherwise, I would like to go through my multilingual presentation slides (for DCPDX) with everyone to get feedback. I could do the presentation (45 minutes) or just walk through the slides. Might also be a good day to do a "round robin" to see what everyone is working on.
Thoughts?
