Our mission is to connect Drupal users in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and surrounding areas. We get together monthly for presentations, site demonstrations, and hack nights. Our goal is to help new Drupal users get up to speed, foster the development of existing Drupal designers and Developers, and contribute to the larger Drupal community. The Research Triangle has a big concentration of technical folks, universities, and start-ups and we want to expose as many people as possible to Drupal and all that it offers.

On Saturday, February 25, you'll have a chance to contribute to a local open source project, at Red Hat headquarters on Centennial Campus. The project is called Triangle Wiki. It's an effort to document the Triangle area. We'll need coders, photographers, and people with local knowledge. It's a hackathon and wiki-athon (if that's a word) all wrapped up in one.
More details are posted on the CityCamp Raleigh website:

Welcome Barb Baranski as a new TriDUG coordinator
I'd like to welcome Barb Baranski as our newest TriDUG coordinator.
After Allen stepping down due to time constraints and the very loud and clear "We want more lunch meetings" message from the successful Lunch with DesignHammer meetup, it is clear that we need more coordinators to help support this as an addition to our current evening meetups.
So, I asked Barb if she was interested... after contemplating it a bit, she has agreed.

In Drupal 6, we used simplenews and simplenews-content-selection to create our newsletters. In Drupal 7, simplenews-content-selection has not been released as of yet and the patch to the D6 version to make it work in D7 isn't optimal. One of the contributors on the issue post said that content selection could be done via the following steps:

Hi TriDUGers,
for those of you that missed the Durham meetup, I have officially announced my retirement as a TriDUG organizer. This month's meetup was my last as an official organizer of the group. Both Greg and Jason have done a fantastic job over the last six months coming up with new ideas and in general breathing life into the group and I feel like TriDUG is in excellent hands going forward.

It was great to meet everyone who was at the meetup last night at Duke CE. As part of discussing possible ideas to motivate future lunch/evening meetings, we talked a little about the area of mobile technologies and integrating/synchronizing with Drupal. The company I work for is currently using Drupal 7 as a backend for a mobile fitness app for Android, and we'd love to get in touch with those in the community who are doing similar development, or are curious about how the technology works or its potential.
Read moreLooking for instructions for installing COD on an existing Drupal site
I've followed links in COD documentation for installing COD on an existing site, but haven't found any instructions. I installed COD on a sandbox site and found the modules it uses at /public_html/profiles/cod/modules/contrib. I'm already using a lot of the modules. I plan to copy the COD modules I'm not already using to my existing site /public_html/sites/all/modules. Do you have any suggestion or warnings or links to instructions? I rank my skills at a novice level.
Read morefiltering pdf file attachments
I have a Drupal 7 question that I can't seem to find a clear solution. I have a lot of pdf files that I want to add to our website. I want to be able to query/filter the pdf files based on year and department. I would want something like a drop down menu or radio buttons to accomplish this so the user can select to sort by year and/or department. I can't figure out how to add any taxonomy or association to the file to do so.
Do you know if this can be done or not? If you know of any books or tutorials that will help me, I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Conference Scheduling
Many organizations that hold conferences have a list of their sessions and functions which can be selected and then downloaded as an iCal file to be incorporated into the attendees' calendar programs. Is anyone familiar with how this is done? Is anyone working on incorporating this feature into Drupal based sites?
Thanks

Read moreSelecting blocks from a node
The main content area has
- left sidebar
- main content
- right sidebar
The left and right sidebar will have a default block assigned. However, I'd like to expose a drop-down menu where the user can select specific blocks for each node page. This selection will override or replace the default block.
Right now I'm managing this via the blocks page using path assignments, but the UI/paradigm context shift out of nodes when leaving a node to find the appropriate block and update the active viewing paths is jarring for new users.
As always, thanks!
