Drupaldelphia site ideas

Here's a central place we can use to talk about what we want to include on the Drupaldelphia site.
I thought a good place to start would be looking at the Drupal 4 Design and Drupalcamp Colorado sites to get a sense of some features that are commonly included on Drupalcamp sites.

Feel free to edit as needed.

Philly Drupalcamp Website Build Barnraising

Start:
2009-06-29 18:30 America/New_York
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

We decided at the Philly Drupal Camp planning meeting that instead of squeezing a volunteer to build us a site for the camp (to handle registration, session ideas, planning, spreading the word, possible ecommerce etc etc) we can all come together and do a quick group sprint to build the site. We'll build it with the plan of reusing much of it for future camps, and potentially sharing the codebase/database for camps elsewhere to use as a starting point.

Mason volunteered to work on a logo for T-shirt usage and for the site logo.

PhillyDrupal Camp Agenda, Topics & Speakers : Brainstorming

Let's start brainstorming ideas for tracks, sessions, and speakers for Philly DrupalCamp. As a reminder, here's what we came up with last year.

Thoughts on tracks? Last year we did beginner and advanced. We could do design vs. development/programming. Or coding vs. business. I don't expect we'll have enough content/people for three, so I think we should stick with two. Thoughts?

Philly DrupalCamp Planning

Hi all,

It's been a busy spring, but we're closing in on some plans for a Philly DrupalCamp.

We're looking at two possible locations at Penn, and tentatively looking at July 24 or 31 -- both Fridays.

First of all, does that work for everyone? Sound like a reasonable venue and timeframe? There's a lot of interest around Drupal at Penn, so their participation as a venue will bring lots of folks into the mix, as well as keeping overall costs down.

Are you ready for a MADCamp?

In the months since we successfully pulled off the first Philly Area DrupalCamp (PADCamp) we have had some discussions (most recently at DrupalCon) about whether we should focus on throwing another PADCamp, or whether we should try to work with our neighbors to the North and South of Philly to create a Mid-Atlantic DrupalCamp (MADCamp). I don't have the specific numbers, but at the PADCamp there were tons of people from New York City, Washington DC, Harrisburg, and lots of places in between, so to some degree it was already a MADCamp. What I'd like to try to see for this Camp is a little more regional cooperation and outreach, so I'm curious to know whether anyone from the DC, Maryland, Central PA, NJ, or NYC groups would be interested in helping to make this a reality.

I am proposing that we have the first MADCamp in Philly, due to it's central location on the East Coast and the fact that the Philly group is trying to move the idea forward. However, I'm personally open to hearing ideas for hosting it in other cities, and one of the bigger goals I would have for the Camp is to get more regional cooperation and coordination amongst the groups. I attend NYC DrupalCamps and DC BarCamps (don't think there's been a DC DrupalCamp- has there?), and I've seen many of the same faces at many of these events.

So, if we're going to move forward with this idea, here are some things that need to be decided:

Question about appropriateness of Drupal Camp for Non-techies

Hi all. This is going to be my first Drupal Camp experience. Yesterday I was at one of my nonprofit clients where there are a number of staff people and Americorp Vistas that I have set up with Drupal sites for projects and programs. I told them about Drupal camp and they were enthusiastic about attending. However, on looking at the agenda, I'm second guessing my advice. I want to make sure it's not going to be over their heads.

So, my question:

Sponsorship Packages

During the planning session for the upcoming DrupalCamp we discussed the need for sponsorship packages to help offset the costs of the event, which should end up costing about $7,000 or so, and we decided to come up with sponsorship packages. Below are my initial thoughts on DrupalCamp Philly sponsorship packages, but please keep in mind that some of the items are are up in the air, as we're still not certain whether we'll be able to offer up tables during the lunch session or whether we can put up signs on any of the rooms. Please leave any thoughts, questions, complaints, etc. in the comments. Please note that at least one of my suggestions would alter the timetable slightly.

Who's ready for DrupalCamp Philly?

Last week, about a week after I returned from DrupalCon Szeged, I attended DrupalCamp NYC, and as with most un-conferences, I left wondering "when can I get to one of those again?" So, I bought myself a plane ticket to San Francisco to hit up BADCamp (and chill with some Drupal friends whom I don't get to see nearly enough). And while I love an excuse to travel both near and far, it got me thinking, isn't it about time to hold a DrupalCamp Philly? Or, maybe we should reach beyond our borders and do a MADCamp (Mid-Atlantic Drupal Camp)?
