Do you have an idea for a lightning talk theme for the next Boston Meetup? We want to hear it! This month we are looking for themes that fall into one of three buckets:
- Design
- Show & Tell
- Devops
A theme provides an over-arching idea that guides and focuses the presented lightning talks. An example of themes we have had in the past are:
- "One thing I have learned and love (or hate) about Drupal 8"

Would anybody be interested in teaming together for New England GiveCamp? It's a weekend-long event where you build a site from scratch for a non-profit organization.
In particular, we could use it as an opportunity to build an actual Drupal 8 site. So, great learning experience, you'd get a bonafide D8 site to your name, and it's for a good cause.

The format of the meetup is 5-10 minute "lightning talks." This is an open floor, on topics ranging from recent work to general questions. Our next meeting is Thursday, 10/15, 6pm-8pm
Location:
Last Call Media
136 West St., Suite 01 in Northampton, MA.
https://lastcallmedia.com/
Agenda:
I'd like to break these meetings up into beginner/intermediate in first hour, and intermediate/advanced in the second hour. We can talk about whether that is good, bad or meh at this meeting.
For this meeting I suggest this for now:
- discuss what was learned at NERD Summit (9/11-9/13) and NEDCamp (10/10 http://nedcamp.org/)
"Buddy Backup" -- a vacation suggestion to help us unplug
Though it wasn't entirely thrilling to hear "Barcelona" mentioned so often at last night's great Drupal Nights (kudos to Scott for presenting and Michelle for organizing), it did give me an idea I'd like to discuss at the next Boston Drupal Group: of providing backup support for friends who go away on vacation. Even as I was telling the Barcelona-bound to make sure they took time to unplug, I knew for a certainty that they wouldn't. And yet we all need to, and we need to be encouraged to.

I'd like to invite you to a presentation at MIT on Monday, "Re-Imagining Web Development at MIT." Basically, I'll be presenting the distribution I've been working on for the past year, which is based on Phase 2's Open Atrium distribution. Brilliant as Atrium is from a UX perspective, its real power has to do with maintainability and site development, two areas that have long bedeviled academic web development and impeded progress beyond events, people, and news. I hope you'll be able to be there. It's a really big room.
