Seeking firm for Drupal Community Project
We are seeking a development firm to implement a drupal-based online community site. Our goal is to complete the site in the next 4 months. The requirements are almost 80% complete and just needs some refinement. The site will also have some learning modules and promotional elements. The site is for a center at the University of Southern California
We are looking for a Web development firm with a track record in producing successful, medium-scale drupal communities.
Interested providers should have a Los Angeles presence, strong PM leadership, and reliable and skilled drupal programmers.
Revamp of MAINTAINERS.txt
This is a copy of MAINTAINERS.txt -- from CVS: http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/drupal/MAINTAINERS.txt?view=markup
Feel free to edit. I've left comments turned on for meta discussion as well.
I didn't have anywhere else to post, consulting is about as logical as anywhere else.
Read moreAs Drupal and Drupal Shops Grow, Are NPOs Benefiting?
I am posting to ask two questions regarding nonprofits, consultants and Drupal
shops, and the general direction Drupal is headed. In short, I'd like to
hear your thoughts on whether Drupal is heading in a direction that benefits
nonprofits or leaves many behind. I feel that I need a disclaimer: I'm asking
these questions because I don't know the answer and think some of you will have
great feedback that helps answer the questions, and more importantly improve
Drupal and its community.
-
Is Drupal development getting too expensive, and as a result, pricing many
smaller (Drupal entry level) NPOs out? -
Is the professionalization of Drupal -- more modules and themes being
developed by Drupal shops for paid jobs -- causing more modules, themes and
improvements to get back to the community and Drupal.org? Or, are more
and more improvements becoming for clients only?
Anyone looking for a supporting player and/or collaborator?
As I begin to take the plunge into independent drupal design/development, I'm realizing how much more efficient I'd be if I could work with/learn from others 'on the job'. Having said that, I'd be very interested in working with developer(s)/firms who may either need help on their projects and/or would like to take on new projects. I currently could cover most roles from basic site configuration, theming, and other low level development.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to write in and link to Steven's excellent post titled "Drupal's Designer Future" in case you didn't see it:
http://acko.net/blog/drupals-designer-future
Let's work together to make Drupal better for designers! There is a lot that can be done that will make our lives easier and benefit the entire Drupal community. It's not an easy task, but let's figure out a game plan and priorities to get some enhancements done now so they can be included in the next release.
Your thoughts?

I was wondering how you guys organize your svn/cvs repository for your drupal installations. Where do you put the contrib modules (if you keep them in your repository)? Do you keep the module code or do you keep only the .tar.gz's? Where do you put your themes/modules? Etc.
The structure I was thinking to implement would be:
/reponame/trunk/themes/mytheme/
/reponame/trunk/modules/mymodule/
/reponame/trunk/vendors/drupal.4.tgz.

Hey Y'all. I tried getting out of computers after the dot com bust. But Drupal pulled me back in because it's so F*%$ing useful, and so many people need it's functionality. So I'm starting up a one geek consulting business doing XHTML/CSS based Drupal setups. I'm just starting out, and plan to work primarily with smaller businesses and non-profits. I'm trying to figure out how to base my rates. Here's my considerations:

Anyone Media Temple Grid Server Hosting?
I was curious if anyone has this host, I was curious as to if it's worth paying for the service or not. I notice they have one click installs of drupal. I currently have dreamhost which is a good host but the Grid Service media temple provides is quite inticing espically considering it isn't a whole lot more than what I pay for dreamhost.
