Design 4 Drupal

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Design for Drupal is about bringing the community of designers together to be a part of the Drupal community. It’s about enabling designers and themers to do great stuff, coordinate efforts, come up with crazy ideas, and build a movement to make Drupal beautiful.

Soliciting feedback for graphical Drupal promo video

Sorry if someone thinks I'm cross-posting too much, but I just wanted to get opinions from everyone who might have a stake in this :)

Alright, so I'm trying to think how I can do my part for this little community, and since I've got some degree of proficiency with Adobe Premiere and After Effects, I thought I might be able to put together a little video to explain exactly what Drupal is. I'm envisioning something with a catchy beat, and graphic/text elements -- no voice-overs. I'm in the really early stages of thinking about this, but I'm considering this picture to be my biggest influence right now as to the feel of the presentation:

Only local images are allowed.

(I really like the tetris-like style of it, and think that's something to work with!)

Logo Redesign until Drupalcon - urgent

Hello Folks,

we are going to the DrupalCon Copenhagen and we will present together with Ben Finklea the "Seo for Drupal 6 & 7" Session ( http://cph2010.drupal.org/sessions/drupal-7-search-engine-optimization ).

This is an award. We want you to redesign our Logo until the 21.18.2010 and will post the credits for the winner on our website during the DrupalCon.

The actual website logo is at www.segments.at, but it does not fit to the overall Design of our website.

Help finding a multi page solution

So I am trying to create a Tutorial node type (similar to instructables) that has multiple pages, which are then rendered into a tabbed interface on the node page. This is what I have got so far http://robotgeek.flpvp.com/tutorials/admin/tutorial-page-reordering
If you look at the html, I've taken textarea fields and put them into a

Base theme features wishlist

Do you have some features you would love to see in a framework/base theme?

I've been thinking a lot about this, at the moment I use my own base theme, a kind of Frankenstein of zen, mothership and some bits from other themes I like, set up in a workflow that works for me.

I was thinking of making it more flexible, with many options to turn off or tone down certain things based on the project you are working on.

Here are some ideas I have for options and features:

  • XHTML1.1/HTML5 switch

CSS based views outputs catalogue?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there was a section available where drupal theme developers could share pluggable, class based css styles for the views module?
I know plugins exist in module form but they seem a bit heavy handed when you want total control over your output and the css.

An example would be:

.view.inline .views-row {
float: left;
   margin-right: 20px;
}

.view.inline .views-row-last {
     margin-right: 0;
   }

All you would have to do is paste this css into your stylesheet and add the class 'inline' to the view in the UI.

Another example:

Designers Play Day in Brooklyn

Start:
2010-07-17 12:00 - 16:00 America/New_York
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

Our next Play Day will be on July 17th, the weekend before DrupalCamp8. The hours are 12-4 but you can come at 11 and stay til 6pm ... these are just the hotspot hours

The "Theme", pun intended, is to play with WDD <- web distributed design. Inspired by the Boston Design for Drupal! Nikkiana and I were talking yesterday about moving a conversation from theming to designing ... and that is a major shift in conception!

If you are a designer, want to play with drupal and like killer smoothies. Yeah this is for you!

Intro Theming Workshops

Start:
2010-07-12 (All day) UTC
Event type:
User group meeting

Wish you could learn about theming real-time at 2AM or 2PM? Now you can! In a few short weeks I'm offering my very popular Intro to Theming Drupal workshop as a webinar in FOUR completely different time zones.

Learn how to:

  • Build a Drupal theme from scratch.
  • Choose the best starter theme for your projects so that you never have to build a Drupal theme from scratch.
  • Divide (Photoshop) design files into the separate tpl.php files that make up a Drupal theme.
  • Find and install awesome helper modules to make fancy rotating banners and drop down menus.

This course is for folks who know how to make a Drupal Web site but are tired of their sites always looking like crap.
