Simple cavewoman seeking Drupalist w/ e-commerce skills
Last updated by Walt Esquivel on Tue, 2007-01-23 23:46
My name's Veronica - I work for an information designer who has started a nonprofit (www.informationesthetics.org). We need to move that site from our current server by the first week in February, and set it up on a dedicated server. We also have some e-commerce questions that I can't begin to figure out, being a cavewoman who doesn't understand your complex web interface modules.

When I first registered for the VentureOne small business program by Canada Post. For a week, the IP address : http://206.191.4.228:30000
which was part of the canadapost.inc code to access the Canada Post server works. However, after a week, I keep getting fsockopen error "access denied" whenever I test my shopping cart and I am in the part where a shipping calculation is done.
New Release of E-Commerce for 4.7 Version 3 Beta1
Thanks to Sammy Spets and Synerger Pty Ltd, the rewrite of the subscriptions system has been completed.
I have created a new release for 4.7 which has been labeled at version 3 beta 1. See http://drupal.org/node/110739 for more information about all the changes.
Sammy has also started to roll all these changes into the HEAD version of E-Commerce which will be soon released as for Drupal 5 along with all the other changes that have been done for Next Release of E-Commerce.

Hi,
I need to implement the following purchase process for recurring advertising payments
and I plan to use ecommerce and WorldPay plugin
The process has some offset time for creating and placing the ads,
which means I first need to authorize the payment and recurring subscription (like authorize the card)
As soon as the advertising is placed (i.e. intangible product shipped),
the payment shall be charged - this can be 3-5 days later placement process shall start
This is the process I'm looking to implement
1- ad ordered by client

Hi there
I'm trying to locate developers (any skill level is ok) who have the same E-Commerce focus that I do. The idea is that I am available for feedback, reviews, advice, escalation, and even tuition. Yes, tuition, which means I'm happy for this to be a mentor arrangement (which is why I've posted to Dojo).
The problem with developing for E-Commerce is a) we are not giving out CVS access and b) patches in the queue can be painfully slow to commit. We already have 5 maintainers. So the challenge is to have patches committed promptly by one of the maintainers. I can do this, as long as the patches are for areas that I am familiar with.

I find myself in the position where I need to set up a commerce site in a relatively short timeframe, and I really want to get the most out of Drupal and ECommerce... so my question becomes 4.7 or 5.0?
Read moreLet's get Google Checkout to work with Drupal to allow membership subscriptions-based, recurring credit card charge
Not too long ago, Google announced FREE processing of your Google Checkout sales until the end of 2007. That's right - more than a year's worth of free processing!
From now through December 31, 2007, you can process Checkout transactions for free, even if you aren't an AdWords advertiser. If you're already an AdWords advertiser, you can process your Checkout transactions for free regardless of your AdWords spend.
This potentially affects folks who use Drupal's ecommerce and advertising modules. Wouldn't you like to use Google Checkout (GC) for your Drupal web site(s)? Before that's possible, we need someone to create a module. Unfortunately, GC currently works ONLY in the United States. Regardless, I'd like to see a developer step up and write a membership subscriptions-based, recurring credit card charges capable module and I'd be willing to make a small financial contribution. Here's a short GC video demo, but please read on for more info.

Cleanup of store_transaction_save
Big changes
Today marks a big day for certain parts of the store.module. The store_transaction_save function was retooled and is less than half its original size.
Key points to get out of this are the increased emphasis on the use of the hook_ec_transactionapi. A good deal of the store transaction logic is now in store_ec_transactionapi and all the product/item logic in now in product_ec_transactionapi. This lead to some greatly simplified code to which is great for everyone.

Could someone explain how to redirect to a node, say or product, when an item is added to the cart from its own product node page ?
There is no link to go back to the store, to "continue shopping" :)
I would like to enhance the shopping experience.
Thank you!
Read moreAustpost shipping
mrmachine is writing an Australia Post shipping inc for shipcalc. This is superb and I'm hoping to do a review to get this committed. Annoyingly, any input I have into this is part of an upcoming job, so I an constantly limited by roadmaps and whimsical clients.
So I'd like to rally any other possible testers to jump on this bandwagon? People who might already have API keys for example, or have used Aust post shipping in other ecommerce systems.
Ticket is here: please join in if you can.
Thanks
Simon
Can drupal support this?
Ok first off I've hardly used drupal or worked with databases so I'm looking for a relatively straightforward solution.
My website will be something like a very very simplified version of eBay where members can post entries to a database for a fee. I would like to know you guys deal with the payment side of things. For instance what if I added new features and wanted to introduce costs for those (as eBay does with its features like gallery, bold etc)...
I'm thinking of using PayPal as it is free and easy to use but maybe there are other options just as good.
Read morepaypalpro module and E-Commerce 4.7
Hello. I am hoping to get some clarity on the current state and development of the paypalpro module for ecommerce. I noticed that as of today (November 11th, 2006) the module is not included in the current version of ecommerce (4.7.x-1.x). In the "Modules Summary and 4.7 Release Status" section or the ecommerce README, paypalpro's status is listed as "cvs". So I tracked down the module at http://cvs.drupal.org/viewcvs/drupal/contributions/modules/ecommerce/con... , however it's README states, "These paypal modules are not yet released with 4.7 and should be considered either incompatible, unstable or unfinished."

Howdy
I finally got around to writing some simple shipping (ie. with no external apis) code for E-Commerce 4.7. I had intended to do this for a while, but was always held back by the fact that it had to involve changes to store and address modules.
I have just now had the time to do a preferred solution. It is not going into E-Commerce 4.7, because I've made extensive changes to core modules. However, if there are no major complaints, I have semi-permission from gordon to build this into head (soon to be 5.0).
Read moreFinally - our Drupal + E-Commerce Site is live!
I just wanted to post up the experience I've had with the Drupal + E-Commerce package over the last month and a half of learning.
My wife and I started a company selling video games and other techy toys (mp3 players, dvd players and such) based in New Hampshire, USA. The site, http://www.techdiversions.com has been up since last Thursday without any nasty issues (any issues, so far have been my fault).
I've learned enough about Drupal to be dangerous. I've also learned PHP in the process. The E-Commerce package seemed perfect for our needs as a small company startup with very little budget yet flexible enough to do anything I could think up.

Is anyone working on a module to export the catalog to a suitable Google Base feed for Froogle?
I have a client that I switched over from osCommerce to Drupal.ecommerce. We found that having the feed exported to Froogle weekly dramatically increased sales at the store (from none to some). The philosophy behind Drupal.ecommerce could make the feed much more effective, but not necessarily easy to do.
Read moreHow to sell access to a node?
Hello,
I am working on a site where I'm trying to sell access to a specific node. For example, user attempts to access the node would return an 'access denied' message until the user enters in card details and payment is recorded. At this point, that user would be authorized to view the contents of the node. Ideally I'd also like for the user not to have to add the node to a cart or anything.
What would be perfect is to have a link in a teaser that takes the user directly to a credit card form. After payment, that user has full access to that node (and that node only).
I can think of a few different ways to approach this, (taxonomy, node_access, something built off the 'premium' module) but I was curious to hear feedback from you all, and to see if any one has implemented a similar solution using the ecommerce module.
Read moreservice-based business needs advise
Hi-
I installed the ecommerce module last week, and spent several hours familiarizing myself with the settings and general structure of this module.
I've come to the conclusion (pre-mature - maybe), that this module was intended for a product-oriented business; yes, provisions have been made for "non-shippable products" (notice that it doesn't say "services"), but not a very elegant solution for companies/ventures who sell primarily services (IMHO).
Please don't misunderstand - this module looks great. I'm just thinking there may be a better solution - a more intuitive solution - for service-oriented ventures.
Read moreExternal Product database?
I have a funny feeling I am missing something important here, so perhaps I just need sufficient "clue" to get further along.
I want to be able to display our products on our Drupal site, but using the existing postgresql product data from SQL-Ledger (ie, not have to import repeatedly or run two copies of our product data).
I currently run SQL-Ledger with more than 134,000 product lines, only a few thousand of which are typically active, but any and all could be ordered in for customers on demand. We run a retail store so we have inventory control, POS, shipping etc already via SQL-Ledger.
