High Performance

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

This group is dedicated to solutions and approaches for high traffic, high performing Drupal sites. As such, it will deal with a lot of information around the rest of a typical Drupal "stack" -- the operating system, web server, database, and PHP tweaks that combine to support the Drupal application.

This is not a support channel or a place to post bug reports.

If you think you have found a bug, use the issue queue for the appropriate project.

If you need support, see http://drupal.org/support for options.

Implementing Couchbase vs Redis for Drupal 7 site with horizontal scaling

We're ll the process of moving our Drupal 7 online app platform site to a major cloud provider that will include horizontal scaling (multiple nodes for Frontend as well as multiple nodes for MariaDB). We're now considering the optimal solution to scale caching.

We are contemplating substituting standard memcache server with either internal Couchbase memcache server or Redis. The goal is to optimize performance of the site.

We are also contemplating upgrading from php v5.4 to php7.

Recommendations for keeping unwanted strings out of locales_source?

On a site I'm helping with we have a problem that the {locales_source} table growing in size and affecting the site's performance. We're using the locale module for front-end translations, but all of our staff are using English so we don't need translations on admin pages. Some recent analysis of the table shows a large portion is for admin pages.

Trouble integrating Taleo API and Drupal 8

I currently have a drupal 6 website that has integration of taleo, pulling in jobs by state, a simple search, job detail pages, and job details via api. I am upgrading the site to drupal 8 due to security issues and am having a difficult time trying to reporpuse the module. I tried upgrading the module to drupal 7 so i could then move it into 8, but it is not working at all in 7.

Personalisation / Custom caching

Hi all,

I want to build a module that handels caching and is able to deal with altering pieces of content based on some variables.

For a client we've developed a D7 site a couple of years back. The site is high-traffic and serves a lot of visitors but only anonymous users. The site uses views, panels and panels everywhere for it's layout, general pagecaching for cache and all media comes from a CDN. Everything works great!

Looking for Linux Sys Admin Expert

I'm looking for a Linux Sys Admin expert to help with a review and security audit of a Ubuntu 14.04 server. Ideally you are an expert in Linux / LAMP servers, very comfortable with configuring & maintaining a variety of Apache/Nginx / mysql, etc servers.

This is a short term hourly contract opportunity but with very significant potential upside for the right person.

Ottawa based is ideal but not critical.

Fork Drupal for High Performance purposes.

Today Drupal becomes a very big part of the Web. It's a very powerful tool for creating a small or medium site of any kind with minimal effort. It may satisfy almost all business needs on the market.

But there is a big gap between business card website which have 50 visitors per day on 10 pages and a high performance site which should handle 1k+ visitors per day and serve 500k+ pages.
Right now I can see a lot of contrib modules which are solving some of the performance problems that will certainly appears while your site traffic is growing.

Drupal.org migrates to Fastly's real-time CDN; Hear all about it this Thursday at the Drupal 8 Release Party: Los Angeles

Just in time for the expected increase in traffic to coincide with the release of Drupal 8, all the content and files on Drupal.org have been migrated to Fastly!

Joshua Mitchell (joshuami), CTO of the Drupal Association, just posted this great writeup a few days ago:

We are so stoked to announce our partnership with Fastly. Fastly is now serving up all of our traffic from the *.drupal.org domain Drupal sites and related services.

Fastly will be at the Drupal 8 Release Party: Los Angeles this Thursday to demonstrate their real-time CDN, how to integrate it with Drupal (both Drupal 7 & Drupal 8 are supported), and to answer any of your questions.

Their presentation will be streamed via Zoom. Please be sure to have Zoom installed and stay tuned to @GLADrupal on Twitter for the video conferencing information.

Decided to see what's causing a slow cache clear on our D7 site. Below are the functions that should be looked at to see if they can be optimized.

_theme_build_registry 1242ms
imageapi_optimize_init 36ms (contains eval!)
token_info 506ms

Alternative Drupal Implementation in Node.js or other languages?

Has anyone thought about or done any work on doing an implementation of Drupal in a different language? I'm thinking of something that can use the same MySQL database and probably has the same front-end ui. I have really liked Drupal and I feel its data model with fields and such is great, but I think PHP is really holding it back and making it unnecessarily slow and complicated.
