Hello and welcome.
I'm running several sites using Drupal's multisite feature, and noticed the absence of a group to discuss the various issues and how-tos related to doing this. If anyone has any questions about the basics, I can probably answer them. I'd also like to see some tutorials about more advanced stuff like sharing database tables.
Multisite installation ok, server without domains, install.php already accessible: how to avoid this?
Hi All!
I have just hire a dedicated server, linux OS (centos) and apache server.
I have made a successful multisite setup with two sites, BUT no domains are associate yet. My sites folder structure looks like this:
all/themes
all/modules
default/files
website1.com/files
website1.com/modules
website1.com/themes
website1.com/tmp
website2.com/files
website2.com/modules
website2.com/themes
website2.com/tmp
I have also modified my HOSTS LOCAL FILE to reach both sites: all works fine, sites are correctly reached, but I have the following problem:

Multisite or Domain Access with CiviCRM?
I have done a bunch of research but could use some advice on whether a multisite installation or the Domain Access module is more appropriate for my needs.

I have been doing research into multi sites, because I have 3 sites that are separate that I need to bring together in a multi site install. I read some articles on drupal.org that talked about doing symlinks or static linking. The problem is they said how to do it though the command line but not why. So why would I need to do symlinking or static linking when setting up the site.

I am looking to provide a Small Town portal site to promote the business and clubs in our area(could be up to 100 or so businesses if they all wanted to take part).
The front page would have latest offers, shop of the day, club news etc you no the sort of thing.
From the answer I was given in forum It seems the Domain Access module would be the best answer, since I need to be able to pull content from the sub domain sites onto the main domain home page.
I have spent the past few hours reading comments on the multisite groups site and have found a problem.

I have investigated Drupal and multisite capabilities through numerous sources and experienced users of Drupal. At all turns, I am told Domain Access is the module we need to use to meet our needs.
Our needs are basically this:
(1) we want a single code install of Drupal (don't have the resources to keep multiple copies up-to-date and in sync with each other)
(2) we have shared server running nearly 100 websites and web apps of varying sizes and complexities
(3) some of the ~100 sites will get converted into Drupal for better CMS capabilities
Domain Access and RSS feeds -- per site and combined
I am looking at creating several mostly-unrelated sites using Domain Access. (The reason to use DA rather than core multisite is mainly to minimize admin overhead.)
I would like each site to have a separate feed. I'd also like to have a combined feed from all the sites, displayed as a block on each site.
Is this something I can do with DA?
I am using FeedBurner. Does that add any problems/complexity?

Hi,
I'm quite new in Drupal. I'm involved in a project where i have to create a multisite drupal structure. I have a main drupal site. I have diferent groups (organic groups) created into that main site. And what I need to do now is to build a subdomain for each organic group.
I found some modules (Domain Access and Subdomain) but I'm not sure how to start with them.
Has anyone worked with it? something similar to what I'm trying to do?
Many thanks and happy new year to everyone.
Setting up Multi Site, but few questions on sequences, images
I have setup multi site, but i have few problems:
BTW, I am converting the existing site to multi site, so need to change the existing system accordingly.
1) I am sharing the users among the sites,
I took the backup of following tables and restored in shared database:
$db_prefix = array(
'default' => '',
'authmap' => 'site_shared.',
'role' => 'site_shared.',
'sessions' => 'site_shared.',
'users' => 'site_shared.',
);
Multi site on one database - any drawbacks?
I have got a multisite installation with a separate database for every site.
The sites are unrelated and don't share any data.
However I figured some administration tasks such as database backup and database duplication (which I usually do on core upgrade...) would be easier if I just used one website with different table prefixes.
Are there any drawbacks for that? Is there a reason to stick to one database?
Thanks & happy holidays.

I’m having trouble viewing/log-in to my multisites from other computers on the local network. After getting my multiple sites set up I realized other members of my office needed access to the development sites. So I configured DNS and openSSH on my sandbox. I think I have gotten them all configured properly since when I navigate to http://192.168.1.110 from another computer I get:
It works!

The only way this site is different from others I am working on is that it is set up as a multisite.
I have my path set up as "sites/domain.com/files/image.png" (where it is), with all spelled correctly.
