There is an enormous amount of activity in the Drupal community in Southern California. We'll have a quick overview of what resources are available to individuals and companies that use Drupal and what Drupal events and trainings are happening in Santa Barbara and beyond.
Raffle!
Raffle prizes include a full day of training in Downtown Los Angeles from Chapter Three and Exaltation of Larks. Upcoming trainings include Drupal in a Day, Custom Content Fields and Lists and Drupal Module Development.
There's a module for that
Everybody has a favorite module or two and we'll have a round table discussion where everyone will have a chance to share modules they like, they've written or have used to get out of a sticky situation. It's okay if you don't have any favorite modules -- if you want to, you're welcome to ask the group if a module exists that might help with a use case or problem that you're working on.
At the end of the meetup, the list of modules and the links to download them will be posted in the comments below for the benefit of the larger community.

I have questions rather than contributions. I have two sites that I am looking for guidance for. One is http://www.heavensentdesserts.com and it is very slow to do real time changes to, and I also think it loads slow- I could do with comments why this is and why I should move it elsewhere.
The pages with custom cakes, wedding cakes, catering with the images of cakes, is set up with a View for the photos but they are not "nodes" or individual entities. I need, particularly for the "custom cakes" page something where people can filter for "birthday cakes", "baby cakes", "anniversary cakes", "gambling", 3D cakes, etc. but I cannot figure out how to do that ... unless I start from scratch ... which I am prepared to do if I can figure out a simple way to achieve this.
The second site is not finished but uses Ubercart and will have about 5,000 different items (rare books). It's built in Drupal 6 and I wonder how much is different in 7 re Ubercart and how difficult it would be to port it to 7. I have a custom module (not built by me) which deletes all "products" so I can upload an entirely new file with all the new, added, changed, etc. books whenever I want to. I have this only locally on my Macbook. I still have only a feeble grasp of what I am doing. The shopping cart works now, and I am building out the rest of the site but I am wondering about speed on a live server etc also.
I would really like to have some input on this at the meeting if possible.

Curious, curiouser and most curious ...
Question part deux
I have been playing with the omega theme a lot. For what I want to do it looks to be a winner. However, with Drupal 7 I am stuck trying to figure one thing out. A decent slider/carousel. At http://developmentgeeks.com/ there is a slider on the frontpage. That site is a drupal 7 site. Anyone have any idea what slider that is? I have tried Views Slideshow, which I like, but is currently VERY buggy. I have tried DDblock and well, it doesn't seem to work well under D7.
well good news and bad news.
well good news and bad news. good news is its pretty easy to identify that slider/carousel - its project slider.
bad news is it seems mostly abandoned. there is some recent code in the issue queue. Id suggest hitting up Jake and asking him directly or perhaps even better, cross post in the new hampshire group - that he helps organize - and he or someone there might have a better answer.
