Philly Consultant Roll Call!

At Zivtech we sometimes get requests for work that would be a better fit for a smaller shop or freelancers. That got me wondering, who is out there doing Drupal for pay in the Philly area? What kind of projects do you guys do or want to do?

I work at Zivtech where we have about 10 folks focusing on Drupal and Alfresco work and we do a little bit of everything: end-to-end site building, lots of custom module development and design implementation, and increasingly cleaning up people's existing broken sites.

Countdown to Drupaldelphia!

Drupaldelphia is only 17 days away! We've got a lot to do still!

Here are our biggest needs:

  • People to volunteer to lead a session (We only have 5 listed on the site)
  • People to promote the event on other groups, websites, mailing lists, flyers in college buildings, etc (We only have 52 people registered - we're shooting for 175)
  • Are we offering lunch? If so we need to book a caterer
  • Are we creating a T-Shirt? If so we need a design and someone to place the order

Following that, we'll need

  • Someone to assemble the sessions into a schedule

complicated referencing and specific order of OTHER nodes from inside a node

This one has me itching my head.
I'm working on a project for a client that has events.

These events are sponsored.

There are 3 tiers of sponsors.
Gold, Silver, Bronze.

I have a content type for sponsors.
That content type has .. title, logo, body... (I really only need it for the LOGO)

When making a new Event node, the author needs to be able to select sponsors that are in one of the ranks (gold, silver, bronze...)
"So, that's easy!" everyone says at the same time, "just use node_reference..."

Ah ha! not so fast.

I'll be in town...

I am heading up to delaware / Phily last week of March, and wanted to see if there was anyone interested in meeting up. I am living in Miami at the moment, but probably moving to Baltimore or Delaware, and would like to network with more DRUPAL and iPhone developers. If someone wants to drop me a line, please do.

Introducing Flemington Drupal - A new Meetup group in Flemington, NJ

I just started the Flemington Drupal Meetup a couple weeks ago because I think there is a need for something a bit closer for people in this area. Princeton, Philadelphia and NYC are all 45-75 minutes out and not easily accessible by some.

I am pretty new to Drupal in contrast to the community, about 1.5'ish years but can definitely provide a good foundation for noobs to learn and get started.

Will post more info soon about our first Meetup on the 16th.

Cheers,

Elijah Lynn

Durpal Jungle Gym

As a newbie to Drupal, you know what would help me? Purpose.

What I mean is that learning Drupal is cool, but learning it so that I can actually do something with it is even cooler. What I want to know is could someone come up with a few different types of sites and specifications so us new people can build those?

For instance, instead of just installing everything and figuring out what works, someone says:
"hey, build a social site with these features"
or
"build a site for a small school that needs these features"
or
you get the drift.

Event Calendar

I was wondering if anyone has been successful in building an organization event calendar.

I have followed several howtos, and always seem to get stuck when the events are listed in the calendar view at the time of creation of the node, instead of the date of the event.

Other issues, such as how to create multi-day events, etc are also troubling 9I have not gotten that far)

I would also love to have a "Upcoming events block" that lists the next several upcoming event nodes, and automatically selects for the next week. (I actually got this close to working, but screwed it up)

PhillyPHP Meetup | IDE's: Beyond vi, emacs, and Notepad++

Start:
2010-03-04 18:30 - 20:30 America/New_York
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

Hi all,

I figured some Drupal folks might be interested in the upcoming PHP Meetup event. We'll be talking about IDE's - Indegrated Development Environments. If you're programming and not using an IDE, it would definitely be worth your while to found out if these tools can help you. Two of the three presenters are Drupal developers (from Rock River Star) so I'm sure some of the code presented and the tips given will be particularly relevant for Drupal.

The event takes place at Wharton. RSVP is here:
