PRESENTATION by Mike Stewart

My presentation will be built on the foundation of open source tools for web development. I use open source tools exclusively since switching from Windows 2yrs ago. I also understand and know many of the web development tools used on Windows and Mac - so most of my presentation will focus on strategies and concepts that can be applied equally well regardless of the tools in your toolbox.

The major topics of the night will include:

  • Taking a web design, converting it to a theme, and some of the advantages of Zen. I'll try to point out some best practices, and I'll point-out a few gotchas, too.

  • In my talk I'll be using a design created in Inkscape, but the strategies will be similar for Fireworks, Photoshop, Gimp, and Illustrator, etc.

Sounds like a great meetup. Always up for learning what open source tools others are using for their web development.

Question: Will you be creating the design in Inkscape, slicing & dicing it & then implementing it to a theme? I guess I´m asking if you´ll be going through the whole process, cuz that would be really cool.
