For our October meeting we are going to take a look at the recently launched KaleCart.com website, a custom Drupal based e-commerce website of an organic grocery delivery service start-up in Downtown Los Angeles.

The KaleCart.com website features:

  • Mobile-friendly HTML 5 responsive theme and fluid product catalog
  • Delivery scheduling widget
  • Product catalog filtering for dietary designations
  • Instagram image feed block
  • Flexible coupon system
  • Credit card payment gateway
  • Automatic product image processing

When we are done taking a look at KaleCart.com we can brainstorm potential topics of interest for future Meetups and open the floor to questions to see if we can help each other with specific challenges we are having starting or operating our own e-commerce projects.

Following the presentation at Droplabs we will be heading over to a restaurant at nearby Chinatown for lunch and networking.

   OUR VENUE:
   Droplabs
   651 Clover St.
   Los Angeles, CA 90031

Droplabs is in the Mission Junction neighborhood of Los Angeles at Big Art Labs, just 1 mile up Main St. from Union Station.

There is plenty of Free Parking on Clover Street. After you park follow the yellow signs that point to Droplabs.

Droplabs is a brief walk from the Main St. / Lamar St. stop on the the Metro Local 76 bus line. This is also the Lincoln Heights / Chinatown DASH stop.

The website address redirects from one to other, and the names are interchangeable. Perhaps most importantly, all the signage says KaleCart. Nice work, retroasian!

Many thanks to everyone who came out to the meetup today! I counted 12 people at one point, which is a great turnout for an entirely new event that had less than one week's worth of promotion.

Meanwhile, here's a wonderful followup that was just posted on Meetup.com by a happy attendee:

Joe Del Rivo gave a dynamite e-commerce presentation. If Los Angeles only knew of his awesomeness, there would have been 1,630 in attendance. One pair came in from Orange County. Don't worry, there is a continuation of the e-commerce presentation in November. Great snacks - thanks!
