Alternate time and location in Los Angeles?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Since I will never be able to make a 4PM Sunday meeting, I wondered if anyone was interested in alternatives. I could meet any weeknight evening, although Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are best. I am on the West Side, but I don't mind a little travel.

If there is sufficient interest, I can try to find a location.

Thanks,

Long Beach or South Bay?

mike stewart's picture

Hey Cary -

Sundays (weekends) don't work too well for me either... tho I did pencil in the next meeting on my calendar. But as the summer kicks in, Sat/Sun afternoons are very unappealing.

I'd be game for a meeting closer to me or the South Bay (off 405). Thoughts? Anyone Else?

Should we start a Long Beach

Should we start a Long Beach meeting? I would be there for sure. Although, I am a designer so I am not sure how much my attendance would matter. So my vote doesn't carry much weight. We might get a few extra people from OC too. I have been talking to one recently and he would probably be in.

I went to the first Los

I went to the first Los Angeles drupal meetup on a Sunday and I agree with not holding the meetings on the weekend. I think it would be best to hold the meetings on a week night. The weekends should be the time to get away from drupal ;-)

I'd love to meet on a weekday. Evenings would be easier than days, though I might be able to swing some afternoons. I'm a designer trying to learn some php and learning how to theme Drupal is becoming very important to me. I'd like to set up some robust and great looking / working community sites. Let me know, if it's in the South Bay - I'd be very interested in attending.

How about a Long Beach Drupal Group?

My goals are to learn about:

Building Communities
User Created Profile Pages
User Galleries (photo sharing)
Video Sharing

I really think there's money to be made in this area with the right niches / audiences.

Video sharing?

Have you made much progress on the video sharing aspect?

I'm building a site for a travelling film festival pahfest.com that will allow festival administrators (and eventually all site members/the public) to post videos made during the festival.

I plan on using Drupal and ffmpeg for video encoding, but it's all very new to me, so any pointers/resources/examples you have would be greatly appreciated. I will also share what I learn along the way.

Thanks!
