Is [West] LA Drupal Meeting Still On?

It's just that the meeting hasn't been posted yet, Rob.

The Central LA (Downtown) meetup was never meant to supplant the main (West) LA Drupal meetups. The Central LA group was simply created to service the population of Drupalistas who want to attend Drupal meetups but might not be able to make it out to the westside on a weekday evening. Lots of folks live/work east of the 110 & that's why the Central LA Drupal group was created- there was a need. While I thought we'd explained that, I'll take the blame for not being crystal clear on this issue. We'll make sure to touch on this on Tuesday at the next West LA Drupal meetup (thanks for pointing it out!).

The LA Drupal User Group has been an incubator for the surrounding SoCal area's need for more Drupal tech meetings, away from our home base in LA's Westside area. We encourage meetings in Santa Barbara, San Diego and the Desert, whose leaders in these cities attend our Santa Monica meetings.

The LA and Orange County business/suburban area is 50 miles by 30 miles in size. There is room for many more Drupal User Groups, and I believe I may speak for all LA Drupal leadership in saying we collectively support and encourage new volunteers to lead groups near their place of business and home.

Christefano, who is creating this new Drupal meeting, is a founding member of the LA Drupal User Group and talked at length with his fellow founding members about forming a new meeting in his area, and he was/is highly encouraged to create a strong and high attendance record for this new meeting.

We have a Cafe meeting run in the Long Beach area by another founding member, Mike Stewart, that meets irregularly.

All these ad hoc meetings we hope become permanent fixtures in the LA Scene, and we expect each and every meeting in the LA area to take advantage of our LA Drupal mailing list to announce their meeting, several times to get the word out. A primary reason for using the LA Drupal mailing list for local announcements is to avoid scheduling conflicts each month.

I desire to run a Cafe myself, once in the Santa Monica, but now I live in Redondo Beach, and sometime in the summer will announce a monthly Cafe event near where I live and work,..., which might be Culver City by then. As it's so close to our father meeting in Santa Monica, my Cafe will be 2 weeks away from the last Tuesday of the month. It's size and scope will be much different than our monthly Causecast meetins. Smaller and informal.

We would all like to get to at least one Drupal meeting each "week", right?

Our website redesign is in the making, and will be a terrific addition to any User Group, not just Drupal, as a guiding design principle has been to make it a distribution that explicitly supports User Groups. Our LA members are a leading advocate for more Drupal meetings, not just in SoCal, but throughout the world.

Events on the westside are always happening. I think I'm the only LA Drupal manager on the westside and as you might know, I don't like commuting. Anyway, we just announced the Git with Drupal 7 git bootcamp and code sprint in Marina del Rey on June 12th.
