As well as dramatic improvements to the website’s design, navigation and accessibility, new features include an RSS feed for all news items; interactive online poll; animated feature-story panel; and quick access links to some of the more popular social networking sites.

just launched new news community using drupal

Hi everyone,

We've just launched a new news-site using Drupal. http://www.theblogpaper.co.uk/. We aim to publish the first free user generated newspaper in London UK by the End of August/ Beginning of September 2009.

So the concept in a nutshell basically is that users of theblogpaper.co.uk can upload articles, photos and engage in discussions. The highest rated and most discussed content will be promoted to the printed version of the blogpaper. Our intention is basically to create a weekly review of what has been going on within the blogging community, and what the community found worthy to be printed and is read by potentially more. Our main goal is to create a platform for bloggers, citizen journalists, photographers and other "content creators" which allows them to get further exposure and maybe reach out to new readerships.

Filtering of RSS news from a huge database

Hi guys,

I would be very interested in knowing your opinion and shall appreciate a little help concerning some functionality of RSS news feeds.

The idea is the following: my website visitors should be able to create a single database of RSS news feeds. Simply that could be a single wiki page with many RSS links. Then obviously when the link database becomes big, there will be too many news ITEMS to read. To solve this problem users could set up their own personal keywords, so that the module saves only those news items which matches the keyword.

Global News Content Module - Stories, Photos, Quotes, Connections

Moved to official ideas list: http://drupal.org/node/237907

I want to propose a project for building a module that pulls news content from a global news service called Daylife (http://daylife.com)

Daylife is a global news aggregation service that offers an Open API platform called DayPI (http://developer.daylife.com) for any developer, blogger, news service to pull stories and photos about any topic in the world. The API returns data in XML, JSON and PHP serialized formats. You can read the Daylife About page at http://www.daylife.com/page/about to learn more about the company. All platform documentation is on http://developer.daylife.com/docs

Exciting news for the Nashville Drupal Group

Some of the members here know that I currently live about 60 minutes outside of Nashville and because of this, my ability to really lead the Nashville Drupal Group has been a bit lax. Well I have good news. Our family is moving to the Hermitage area in late March! This means that I will be able to take on a much more active role in promoting Drupal in the Nashville area. I have high hopes for making the Nashville Drupal Group an very active community in the coming year.

Welcome to new members

After Nikolai started the group, he added Steve Yelvington and I as moderators, so we get to see all the applications.

As Kevin noted below two Drupal-based projects received Knight foundation grants. One of those recipients, Lisa Williams just joined our little group. Lisa does great things with http://www.placeblogger.com/. Welcome to her and all the new members.

OSCMS Meetup

OCSMS schedule is posted http://2007.oscms-summit.org/schedule. There will not be a "News(papers) on Drupal" session.

But we should still get together. I've set aside an adjunct event http://2007.oscms-summit.org/node/369 but not scheduled it.

Some questions:

1) Should we just have lunch together on Friday?

2) Or a dinner outing on Thursday or Friday?

3) Anyone local to the area want to organize something?
