A group of us are trying to get together a regular meetup for technology for nonprofits in the Twin Cities. At the moment we're just kicking around ideas for planning this. It might be under the guise of a Netsquared meetup, or something else. If you're interested in helping to plan such a group, please contact me.

The concept is simple: national teams compete against each other to build website in 24 hrs, putting national pride and web prowess to the test.
And the real winners of the competitions? The not-for-profit organisation who is presented with a stunning, fully functional website.

I've created initial snapshots for CiviCluster and CiviConference for
users of Drupal 5. It may take up to 24 hours for them to appear in the
Drupal.org release system, but they are already in the DRUPAL-5 CVS branch.

CiviCluster will rapidly identify duplicate contacts and walk users
though merging them. CiviCluster supports CiviCRM 1.6 and 1.7 (except
for CiviEvent). CiviCluster will be updated shortly to support CiviEvent
schema changes.

So we had the Drupal Extreme Makeover a couple of weekends ago. We'll be hosting a follow-up DrupalMentor session for these new users to learn more about managing their sites. In the meantime, below are some notes I took on what we accomplished (I'm not linking to the sites because the new ones are done, and the old ones - well, they didn't like them anyway, right?)

I'm very much hoping this isn't a feature request for 4.8... I'll just explain my situation:

I'm making a fundraising auction site for a nonprofit arts center, and really all I want to do is add some attributes for the volunteers adding items to fill out in addition to the description, that is, have a field to enter the name of the person who donated the item, and another field for the estimated market value.

I thought it would be trivial to create my own product type based on the auction module and with an extra field or two, but it has not been!

I can see many reasons to add open-ended text fields in addition to one big block for "description" to products, so I hope someone has some experience or advice.
