Read moreNew Adobe.com article: Building Drupal Zen sub-themes with Dreamweaver CS4
The third article in my Drupal series for Adobe.com is out now. This article covers Drupal Zen Sub-Themes, including Dreamweaver tip(s) when working with Drupal themes.
"When asked why I would recommend the Zen theme versus a core theme such as Garland, I answer, Zen was built to be a seed for your tree—you plant the seed, water it, and watch it grow! Garland looks nice, but is not documented well and has custom page template code that should not appear elsewhere. In short, Garland is just not right as the basis for a theme; the Zen theme is."

Hello this is an advice website that I have been building for a few months now.
A few modules that I use on the site in general are:
Friend
Taxonomy
Christmas Snow (for the effects)
PM Lite
Views
Nodes as block
Every time you click a user's advice you get redirected to a page that has these contents:
Right Side (content ad)
Advice Category (theme editing)
Users can then comment "posting advice" to other users who ask the advice.
Few pictures/words are available on certain pages, for example:
Read morePreface Middle Not Showing
Hello all!
I have been working very hard to modify the Marina theme to fit in with my website, and it is turning out very nice. Many thanks for this great theme.
The problem that I have is that no matter what I do, I cannot get the Preface Middle area to hold a block. Granted, I have very limited designing abilities, but even in my install of Marina (unchanged code) it won't work either. Two "real" web designers have looked over the code and are perplexed that even though I have a block with an empty .gif in "preface middle", it doesn't show up in the html.

Read moreHow to Make Acquia Slate Fluid?
Please please please! I have zero training in css and have learned the hard way (many hours trying to modify .css file) that makiing this theme even a little bit fluid is problematic. My site really needs this functionality. I know that when using 1, 2, or 3, columns things have to match the header content wrap width in order for things to line up, but how would one break that? Say, I don't care if the sidebar left and right don't match the white header.jpg but I want the sidebars fixed and the middle content fluid to the screen.

Hi Everyone!
I am a newbie in web design, new to Acquia Slate and am very excited to have found this group. Hoping to manipulate some blocks such as the login block. I would like to place it on header-top but throw it on the right-hand side and without the Open-ID option. Basically, I want it to look much like it does on the showcased site Cornerstone Gospel Church.

How would I go about adding a block to the top of content? I noticed there is one for below content, but one above content would be ideal for adding a scrolly feature thingy.

Make Acquia Slate colorable too!
Maybe coloring options are a knife in our back, it is very nice to change look and feel of site by using color scheme.
If we are looking to give solution to have theme radicaly changed without coding - this is one of the best ideas there is. One could easily change images and color scheme will do the rest. And with theme options, you're up and running very fast.
Besides, as Slate is not too far away from Marina (name of my first born daughter! :) I think once this is done, it will be less complicated to implement it for Slate.
Read moreadding rounded block to other regions (Acquia Slate)
Howdy,
I would like to know if it's posible to add the rounded block (from eg sidebar_first) to other regions like content-wrapper ?
I tried adding it to template.php
// Add regions with rounded blocks (e.g., sidebar_first, sidebar_last) to $rounded_regions array
$rounded_regions = array(sidebar_first, content-wrapper);
But doesn't work.....do i need to add it somewhere else as well ?
Thanks so far!
Read moreDoc update?
at The Acqua Slate Handbook page the list of regions goes:
2 Header top
3 Header first
3 Header middle
But the graphic shows
2. Header Top
3. Header Middle 4. Header Last
Also, the graphic shows the logo and site name in the Header_middle region, but looks to me like it's really in header_first
So I think the graphic just needs these changes to region names:
header_middle=>header_first
header_last=>header_middle
How to modify appearance of pages other than the homepage (Acquia Slate)
Hi all,
First off, I'm very impressed by the Acquia Slate theme. All things considered it helped me to decide to switch to drupal for good.
Perhaps on the Drupal side of things I am quite the newbie but I catch on fast. So if anyone could please help me with the following:
Read moreThemes + Panels 3
As you might have noticed, there's a new 2.x-dev branch out of Acquia Marina that includes layouts and styles for Panels 3 among other things: http://drupal.org/node/472094
We'd particularly love to hear from anyone who has tried out this new feature.
For those in the Bay Area who are interested in this topic, we'll be discussing Panels 3 theming at BADCamp this Saturday afternoon: http://badcamp.net/session/theming-panels-3
Read moreZero Point: a new theme based on Acquia Marina
At least it sure looks like it's based on Marina :) Saw this one the other day that appears to be a really nice derivative, with even more settings and things like colour scheme options! http://drupal.org/project/zeropoint
Anyone tried it out yet?
Read moreproblem with nice menus (dev) using superfish with hoverIntent
I have a nice menu with hoverIntent in superfish that works as expected in every theme I've tried except Acquia Marina and its derivatives. The timeout delay works in all cases, but the mouseover sensitivity configuration parameter seems to make no difference in Acquia Marina - it behaves as CSS (instant response on
mouseover)
Any idea why that might be?
Thanks,
Paulu N.
Acquia Marina Crashes with Error After Adding Custom Block
hi there,
I installed Acquia Marina on my site recently. It usually works fine but every 72 hours or so, it crashes into oblivion, only leaving the following error message.

Hi all,
For a recent medical journal from uk [bjmp.org], I have created a subtheme based on Acquia Marina and everything is working ok except the lower end of "content" border appears broken. I want the main content window to also have a border like the sidebar blocks and have added the relevant code of blocks into the page.tpl.php
Not sure how to proceed further.
The only files that have been changed in subtheme folder is
1) page.tpl.php
2) style.css
What's your preferred solution for related tabbed content on nodes/product pages?
