Video

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

The 2006, with the explosions of huge video based community websites such as Youtube, has shown how video contents are becoming one of the most direct and cool to use web communication approach.

Drupal, as a leading open source content management platform, absolutely needs a good and globally accepted video content approach.

This group aims to get ideas and coordinating efforts between the different people involved in the video content development. The goal is to provide drupal with an easy, powerful and extensible support for videos.

Original post : http://heididev.com/video-module-7x-2x-what-you-should-know

I released video module 7.x-2.1-alpha2 version on 11th of Sep. This major version completely redesign the video module and its core, I'm the only one worked on this release and seems our co-maintainers (6.x) had no time to contribute code to the 7.x yet. I'm very very happy about the progress of downloading and using video module. It has over 10,500+ usage now.

In this article I'm going to examine some new features added to the video module.

I've recently finished a big video project, hoping to be the next big YouTube. I'm hoping they are too. In the process I encountered a host of different challenges as you do with any new project. I thought I'd share some of the critical success variables back with the community. Hopefully, I'll help you avoid some of the growing pains I suffered through.

3d flip video player

A few days ago I found a video-tutorial on how to make a Flash video player on the site, which would be rotated on the back and showed the description of the video file.
Here is a link to the video: http://gotoandlearn.com/play?id=91
Now I am engaged in the creation of the module, which would work with the database, create xml files for video players and on the other side, it would be not a description page, i wonna to make a voting side.
If someone interesting, then write in the comments. Waiting for tips and questions. Sorry 4 bad english

Planet Drupal TV

I have created a new site called Planet Drupal TV that aggregates Drupal video feeds in a manner similar to how Planet Drupal aggregates Drupal blog posts. Videos can be viewed in-browser or downloaded. There is a "most popular" section that utilizes the fantastic Radioactivity module.

It utilizes my Blue Droplet Video module and its Feed API integration.

I've added all the Drupal video feeds I could find, although it does not work with YouTube feeds as they do not use the enclosure tag. Miro can acquire video from YouTube, so it should be possible in future. Really, blip.tv is much better than YouTube, or you could use Blue Droplet which outputs the source video in the enclosure tag.

Need "Spinner" and "Complete" icons

I have a request for a UI element if someone wants to make or find a GPL compliant icon set for the Media module. Here's the issue.

We need to have a spinner "progress" indicator (which should just be something that spins, as it's not true percentage complete, just a spinner telling us the upload is in progress). Then a checkbox or something to display when the upload is complete. Something similar to how YouTube does it. (I can attach screenshots of that if someone needs.)

Thanks,
Aaron
