Welcome to the Drupal churches group. This is a group centered around building Church websites with Drupal and a point for members of The Church to go out into the Drupal community. In this group we discuss how to use Drupal, modules to use, integrating other services with Drupal, and the ins and outs of building Church websites.
The Drupal church community extends beyond this group. You can find more information and help in the IRC channel #drupal-churches on irc.freenode.org and on the Geeks and God podcast website.
I'm considering rebuilding our church's website, but haven't worked with audio much in Drupal. The most important resource on the site will be its sermon library. Considering the fact there will be a new 30-40 minute sermon on the site every week, I was hoping that experienced church website builders could give me an idea of how audio file storage affects how you approach site hosting, performance, etc...Read more

How have you solved the issue of Volunteer Scheduling in churches such that a volunteer is not scheduled into more than one spot at the same time? Whatever you use, does it have notification capability so that the a reminder can be sent out to the volunteer?
I am trying to utilize organic groups for a group in my church. I would like this to be a private group and have members able to post content, comments, questions, etc.
I have it pretty much setup, however, in order to allow individuals to post content, I've had to give them permission to use the administrative toolbar. This caused me to create a new role (outside of OG).
Is there a better way to accomplish this? Am I really heading in the right direction?Read more
I am seeking clients for a class at the University of Michigan, School of Information. This class breaks into teams to work on Web sites run by Drupal.
We are a church of about 75 people. As a result a small umber of people have to wear many hats on any given day or event. I need a way to do effective scheduling for the volunteers where we can look acroos the board and see if people are over scheduled into different areas of responsiblity or to be able to look at a particular event and ensure that we are adequately covered. Has anyone run into this and have any ideas they could share?

Would appreciaate any insight anyone has ahd with this.
I'm wondering if anyone out there has any experience using any of the Drupal issue tracking modules in a church context. I've looked over this Project Management/Issue Tracking page here http://groups.drupal.org/node/17948 and I like the features of Storm. I'm a little distressed by the lack of a stable Drupal 7 version, but other than that it looks really good.Read more

I am in the process of revising our church website from D6 to D7, almost certainly using OpenChurch. In the D6 version I have used a custom-PHP way of adding the events for each week because the normal Drupal way of adding one event at a time is too cumbersome and would not be acceptable in our church office.
I have found previous posts about this and a D6 module called 'Multi Node Add'. Does anyone know of a D7 module or proposal that might help? I only need one targetted at adding a set of events (perhaps 10 at a time) adding initial content to 'title' and 'when' fields.Read more
