Design for Drupal is about bringing the community of designers together to be a part of the Drupal community. It’s about enabling designers and themers to do great stuff, coordinate efforts, come up with crazy ideas, and build a movement to make Drupal beautiful.

The Design Issue Queue is not dead...
...just buried. Really, really deep.
So deep, that it took over an hour to find -- after we had been given a tutorial on the subject. Even after Damien Tournoud had been kind enough to point it out, it still took some searching. It's very important for us to make this great usability feedback tool a bit more, well, usable.

At Drupalcon 2009 in Washington, the Drupal design community were asked to become active participants in contributing feedback to the Drupal project.
mfer was kind enough to give members of the Design for Drupal (D4D) Group a tour of how we could provide feedback through the Issue Queue. As a matter of fact, we were shown a version of the issue queue in which any project could be flagged as "needs design review".

I personally hate trying to theme the admin section. It's a totally different project from theming the front end. I bet there are designers out there who would contribute great themes to Drupal if they didn't have to theme the whole back end. So what if we made theming /admin optional? Just specify "admin = false" in your .info file, and the system defaults to Garland as an admin theme. What say you, designers? Is theming /admin a barrier, or am I the only one that hates it?

We need a theme contest. It's been talked about many times over the past few years. I give you the previous attempts...

I think these attempts have failed due to lack of funding, support and clear organization. I want to get the ball rolling on this. Please reply with your ideas and comments. Here are my ideas I'm tossing around.

Read morethemercon
Over at the Drupal event organizing group there is a discussion about having a separately branded themercon in Paris.
Is there interest for this? Since there is so much energy in this group, maybe there are people who want to chime in and offer help to the Paris organizers?

Sorry to add a bit of noise here, but I was directed here. :-) During the Drupalcon sprint, I hopped in to some of the design sprinters to ask if we could get some snazzy documentation logos for the docs team. I'd like to have a variety of images for folks to choose from when doing presentations or blog posts around Drupal docs. There won't be anything "official" about so we definitely want more than one so that people can choose what they like.
