coffee talk suggestions

One of the things I'd like to talk about is OpenID and identity management.

  • What's OpenID and who cares?
  • How do I get an OpenID and what does it do?
  • Tell me why I should care again?

I actually built a website in Drupal to create my own OpenID (with the OpenID Provider module) but lately I've been using chi.mp and have been loving it.

There's a chi.mp openID provider? I must have it!!

Since I'm OpenChimp, that just makes sense, right?

Wish I could make the Cafe tomorrow, but I've got other stuff lined up. Enjoy

So how'd it go? :) --Loved the last one, wish I coulda made it! Being in S. OC it's about a 1.5 to 2.5 hr drive for me each way, depending on traffic.

In the meantime I've been (very) hard at work at KE9QQ2: Proposed Drupal Modules for “The Next Generation of Wikipedia” (CommuniDB) - curious? Check it out!

Gah!

How´d I miss this (must.check.gdo.updates.more.often hehe)?!!!

I really love OpenID but what I just don´t understand is why more ppl aren´t using it net-wide. Is it that folks just don´t know about it or don´t bother to look into it once they hear about it? Part of me has always thought it´s a bit confusing for the lay person to ¨get it.¨

Hopefully it went well, Chris. :)

Thanks, Miguel!

Thanks, Miguel! The cafe meeting went really well, although we didn't talk about OpenID at all. We'll have to do that another time.

The meeting was a great success

The meeting was a great success. Everyone at the meeting broke into pairs and started working on things that mattered to them, like installing SVN in Windows, troubleshooting CSS quirks and installing Drupal 6 and the LAMP stack on a system with only 256MB of RAM.

Pretty much the only thing we did as a group was have coffee, enjoy the outdoor patio and file a bug report together. It was a great evening.

Afterwards, a few of us went to the Mexican restaurant a few doors down. I thought the food was excellent and was thrilled to learn that they also own and operate the taco truck that's usually parked out front.

Next up is the Santa Barbara meetup this Wednesday!
